P8 is a QDC-like IEM, so I doubt its similar to Project M. A good fight would be between Pilgrim and Project M 🤔 Btw, full upgrade to P8, in my experience, is Symphonium Crimson. Heck that IEM is better than my U12t 😂- o0genesis0o

Upgrading the technical performance from P8 is going to be costly and tricky, IMHO. It’s not perfect or anything, but it’s resolution and imaging precision are at a high level, so when we go on a wild goose chase, we likely lose those when we gain stage or tuning or bass quantity.- o0genesis0o

I see! That’s why I found the DSP sound “generic”. It is I think the unusually thick bass and lower mid mask the massive upper mid for me. I enjoy the non-dsp signature quite a bit, especially for gaming.- o0genesis0o

I like Final audio as much as any one but personally, no way I put anything below A8000 in the same conversation with Gaea. The resolution, imaging, and dynamic is on a different league. Gaea vs Crimson? Now that’s a fair fight in favour of Crimson. But, again, I put outsized emphasis on...- o0genesis0o

Here you go https://www.head-fi.org/threads/mdaqs-for-beginners-with-jacob-soendergaard-from-head-acoustics.971895/ Seems like an approach to quantify subjective aspects based on measurements. I think it needs fancier proprietary setup rather than a clone 711 coupler. Still, I appreciate folks...- o0genesis0o

~ $400-range IEM
So many good IEMs nowadays, you can buy any well regarded IEM and have a winner, IMHO. If you hunt for a particular sound signature, or something super duper good, then it gets tricky. Otherwise, knock yourself out 😂- o0genesis0o

They are different. Gaea is more a niche recommendation than Pilgrim. For my collection, I choose Gaea rather than Pilgrim since it’s more lively and impactful, with larger perceived soundstage. But there is no mincing words here, Gaea is an aggressive IEM especially if you fit it shallowly.- o0genesis0o

Review by 'o0genesis0o' on item 'AFUL Explorer'
If you have ever talked about IEMs with me, you would likely notice two points: (1) I have a soft spot for the IEM manufacturer AFUL, and (2) I constantly refresh the news to wait for the release of the mythical AFUL flagship IEM - Cantor. So, needless to say, I was a bit disappointed when...- o0genesis0o

Looking for sounstage, imaging, warm, smooth IEM's
Have a look at AFUL Explorer and Intuaura Splendor II. Both have L shaped signature with thicker bass, natural midrange, less upper midrange glare and good treble extension.- o0genesis0o

NEW HiBy R4
I also use R3II as a source for my W4 when I sit down and listen. Battery seems to last roughly as long as onboard DAC and amp. Running FC6 from a R3II or R4 seems like an interesting option. A bit different flavour once in a while- o0genesis0o

I also tested the DSP dongle with R3II. Surprisingly, as a soundstage addict geek, I prefer the non-DSP sound. Richer and more character. The DSP signature sounds … generic somehow.- o0genesis0o
