Review by 'dannydamsky' on item 'Audio-Technica ATH-M50x'

These headphones are just brilliant for their price. I've heard a few other pairs at it's price range and I assure you there's nothing quite like it.   I've heard people say that these have bloated bass, and I have to disagree. The bass shines in songs where it's emphasized, songs which...

Currently using a Xonar DGX, should I upgrade?

Well at the moment I'm connecting my phones to the DGX, so the cable goes to the back of the PC, so the length of the stock cable is something I need to have at the moment. I'll see if I'll mind it when/if I get a Fulla or an E10K

Currently using a Xonar DGX, should I upgrade?

Well I don't know if it's related but the reason I went for a Xonar in the first place is because my Realtek on-board card started making funny noises. But PC noise aside, how big will the difference be? So if my PC is not noisy, will the difference be noticeable?

Currently using a Xonar DGX, should I upgrade?

Using Foobar2000 with ASUS' ASIO drivers, all my library is strictly FLACs.

Currently using a Xonar DGX, should I upgrade?

I did disable the motherboard's on-board audio. How big of a difference will an upgrade like that make? Is it worth it for someone on a tight budget?

Currently using a Xonar DGX, should I upgrade?

Why would I need an aftermarket cable?

Currently using a Xonar DGX, should I upgrade?

So do you think a Fulla would make a noticable difference for me? I am aware that there's interference with my DGX, but I don't hear any noise, it sounds clean. I'm just wondering whether something like a Fulla or an E10K would make a noticable difference.

Currently using a Xonar DGX, should I upgrade?

How is the Fulla and E10K durability-wise? If I'm gonna buy either one I want it to last me at least 2 years, since I got the HD598 is uses a 1/4 inch jack which I use with the 1/8 inch adapter, so I don't want the headphone jack to suddenly break.

Currently using a Xonar DGX, should I upgrade?

Actually the U7 is more like a DX than a DGX, it uses a better DAC than the DGX, although I'm not sure by how much, it uses a Cirrus CS4398/CS4362 DAC and a Cirrus CS5361 ADC, don't know anything about it's amp though. I'm not sure about the Fulla, first of all where I live Chinese products are...

Currently using a Xonar DGX, should I upgrade?

The E10K is supposed to be much improved over the E10, the DG and DGX are exactly the same. The E10 uses a Wolfson DAC while the E10K uses a Texas Instruments PCM5102 they also changed the opamp there, although I'm not sure what that means exactly. The DGX uses a Cirrus Logic CS4245/CS4361 DAC...

Currently using a Xonar DGX, should I upgrade?

Yeah I forgot to mention I never use gaming features I think it's wrong to do so. I run the Low-DPC drivers from Uni-Xonar with everything checked off so...Will the DAC/Amp in the E10K be better than the DAC/Amp in my Xonar DGX?

Currently using a Xonar DGX, should I upgrade?

I currently own a pair of Sennheiser HD 598's which I connect to the Xonar DGX (Which is a PCI-E variant of the Xonar DG for anybody who doesn't know). I'm wondering if there would be a noticeable difference if I'd upgrade to an external DAC/Amp combo like a FiiO E10K? Suggestions are welcome...

Sennheiser HD 598 vs Philips Fidelio X1

I have tried them and it seems like the official drivers work much better than the Uni Xonar drivers.

Sennheiser HD 598 vs Philips Fidelio X1

Yes I have, I've disabled my motherboards on-board audio. And the DGX is only temporary, I bought it about 2 months ago because I couldn't stand the on board audio. I will eventually move away from PCI-E altogether and I will probably go for the FiiO E10K, it's DAC is better than the Xonar...

Thanks guys for all the help I will be going for the HD598's

Sennheiser HD 598 vs Philips Fidelio X1

From what I understand about the headphones, they have neutral bass, and as for sound being "all over the place", that's because they have a wide sound stage, so you're supposed to tell which instrument is playing in which part of the room. I think the muffled bass is from your songs rather than...

Sennheiser HD 598 vs Philips Fidelio X1

That's really cool man. Sadly I never saw Kamelot live because they never came to my country :(

Sennheiser HD 598 vs Philips Fidelio X1

Amping is not a problem because I own a Xonar DGX and it should amp them both just fine. So with amping taken into consideration, which will sound better?

Sennheiser HD 598 vs Philips Fidelio X1

I don't mind a headphone with a bit of a bass emphasis, as long as the mids and highs don't suffer from it. How do the mids and highs of the HD598s compare to the fidelio X1?

Sennheiser HD 598 vs Philips Fidelio X1

I mainly listen to Symphonic and Power Metal music and I'm considering these two. I mainly listen to bands like Epica and Kamelot, their song have many instruments in them and very powerful vocals, so hearing those things as pleasantly as possible is a priority to me. So for my taste which would...

    AKG K271 MKII vs Shure SRH750DJ / 840 / 940

Actually I've looked into all those models, I've decided I'm going to go with the Sennheiser HD598s, as they are praised for sounding really nice and balanced, easy to drive, have great sound stage, and most importantly, are really cheap in my country. Thanks for the advice everybody :)

    AKG K271 MKII vs Shure SRH750DJ / 840 / 940

Judging by what you've said what fits my needs the most are the BeyerDynamic DT880s, coming second are the Sennheisers 598 and Audio Technica AD900X. First of all, I would like to know if the 600/650s are worth their price, and also if the Xonar DGX can actually drive them, because it says that...

    AKG K271 MKII vs Shure SRH750DJ / 840 / 940

I'll have a look at SoundMagic. What confuses me about Beyerdynamic is, well you recommended the 660s, what about the 770s, 880s, 990s? They all cost roughly the same. And why do they have models with different output impedance? Also forgot to mention, I don't care if they're open or closed...

    AKG K271 MKII vs Shure SRH750DJ / 840 / 940

The DT600 don't have a removable cable, which is a must for me, call me paranoid but I don't want to buy new headphones because of a cable problem, as unlikely as it sounds that it will break, still I prefer to be sure. Has anyone heard how the K271 MKII sound like in comparison to the SRH940s...

    AKG K271 MKII vs Shure SRH750DJ / 840 / 940

Well these are gonna be my first high-quality headphones, the ones I have at the moment are the Sony MDR-ZX110 (which cost around 15 bucks), so I want them to last me a couple of good years, which is why build quality really matters for me. So my better choices are K271 and 940, can you tell me...
