Well with Arya stealth and Valhalla2, and thought old Shangri-La was expensive! Now 50k USD!

Well the Shangri-la is still just a four-tubes amp, with the headphones! Wondering how much better they are than say a proper DAC and Valhalla 2 with also 4 tubes? Doubt mere mortals can hear the difference! Those prices seem to me to be mere hysteria. I can barely hear the difference between...

Well we both have Arya's as our most expensive headphones, and they're pretty good! But not maybe worth the hype and expensive. Had a look at all your exotic cans! Many I had never heard of before etc.

The Valhalla2 will give them that, really brought something out in the hd600's, now become a MUCH better pair of headphones. But very subjective, could be all in my head.

Arya Stealth sound almost identical to akg k712 on Valhalla 2. So disappointing. So not a good match. But then at least not terrible. So far best match is Senny hd600. Well not terrible by any means. But Arya Stealth do much better on Magni+. Just doing some A/B. I would say my favorite...

AKG k712 works, but not nearly as nice as hd600. Volume at around 12 o'clock. Will try Arya Stealth after. All off of Tidal (when it works! crashes on pc!). My k712 need a lot of burning in though of course.

Wow that Valhalla2 gets pretty damn toasty, wouldn't want to leave it on all night or something! No leaving that bad boy after a night on the piss!

Still don't see a need for risers or tube things yet, but possibly. Not getting that hot yet. But possibly in the future. See the reason for it. Going to swap out hd600 for akg k712 see how bad it is. But the hd600 is really great on Valhalla2.

Well learn something every day! Didn't know FiiO made cans, but found the ft5's. Still have FiiO q1 for use on mobile. Super happy with Arya's on Magni+ work very well. My best cans so far. But the hd600 are not far off on the valhalla2. Looks like you could be approaching gearitis though with...

So Shane D, do you find that the Valhalla2 is ok for planar magnetics such as the Arya Stealth or for low-impedance cans such as AKG k712 or various Beyers? Quoting is not working for me at the moment. I was warned as an OTL amp it would be terrible. Have not found that to be the case, in...

And of course having glowing tubes is always cool! So there is that...But mostly a psychological thing. Anyway not had any problems with heat so far, so if you want to go there, a lot cheaper than Hifiman Shangri-La at a million dollars now. For basically the same thing, headphones and four-tube...

Having said all that, the combination of HD600 and Valhalla2 is really good! With Modi as DAC.

I really doubt you will hear the difference between a solid-state preamp/power amp setup and the Valhalla 2. That's mostly for guitarists (me!) where you want some preamp distortion or preferably power-amp distortion at reasonable levels (not like a Marshall stack going full-bleed). So I...

That would be my choice now as stackable on modi, however how am I then get to get rid of not one but TWO! amps, magni and Valhalla 2?

So it's the same as the Vali3. Way to go to confuse us! https://www.schiit-europe.com/product/vali-3-tube-hybrid-headphone-amp-and-preamp/

Can you link to the Lyr+? See the Lyr on the USA website, looks nice. Europe website has the Vali3 but not the Lyr. See it only on the USA website. Just as Valhalla 2 is on the European website but not the USA website. Also huge price differences. Double in Europe.

The heat wasn't that terrible for me, don't know what people are complaining about. Works just fine stock. Can't say I hear a huge difference between Valhalla2 and Magni/Modi stack though, although I will say they make a difference to Sennheiser hd600. Then again I have mostly planar headphones...

The AKG k712 pro are a bit too cold for my taste and tinny. Much preferred my old akg k6xx which are now out of production I see. Probably due mostly to non-removable cable. They're not terrible by any means, but prefer the Sennheiser hd600's. Still have akg k271mkii as closed backs, much...

Anyone else react to the absurd price Schiit wanted to have for a rack? 180 euros or something on the Schiit European site. Would have bought one, but that really stuck in my throat. Have magni/modi stack and Valhalla2, so would have been perfect for that, but can't justify those kinds of...

Well with Arya stealth and Valhalla2, and thought old Shangri-La was expensive! Now 50k USD!

Frankly as have magni+ and Valhalla 2 (also with 4 tubes) think I am pretty sorted. Not keen on getting more expensive dac. Think I have reached the end of my investing in hi-fi gear for a few years. Now iff only Tidal would work on pc. Still crashing and hanging.

Well now hifiman have upped the price on the Shangri-la from 8k USD to 50k! Wow! Haha maybe a shot in the foot, may sell to some arab princes, but noone else! Chrissakes! Even the original was overpriced!

HIFIMAN Arya - Arya Stealth - Arya Organic :: Impressions Thread

Then again, listening to Arya Stealth magnet, and pretty sweet! So this amp isn't just for 3-600 ohm headphones, although that's where it will do best. Can fine also drive low-ohm planar magnetic cans and iems.
