    Sennheiser HD 660S2 thread

Due to the risk of potential damage of the driver, likely not unless it’s guaranteed/documented no driver denting/damage occurred. But I’m hesitant about b-stock headphones in general unless it’s directly from the manufacturer (in which you also get a warranty on the headphone). This is also...

    Sennheiser HD 660S2 thread

If a headphone is returned after being opened/used and sold again it’s considered renewed/B-stock. This wouldn’t really happen unless the seller is being unethical and selling a renewed product as new.

    Sennheiser HD 660S2 thread

The HD 6xx series is completely modular and easily self-serviceable. One of the few headphones that require no soldering to replace the driver. Other headphones that require no soldering to replace the drivers are the Beyer Pro X series (actually one of the selling points of these headphones)...

Focal Hadenys & Azurys Review & Measurements

It should be quite different from my other headphones so looking forward to them. I have some bass-head tendencies so may be quite fun to tinker with the bass. Very curious about them, been wanting a Focal for a while now. The DT’s are a freak of nature, and sound far better than expected...

Focal Hadenys & Azurys Review & Measurements

I never found the open Focals I heard all that spacious either so did expect it to be on the less spacious side. Though may be less spacious than expected; but I know things do vary some person to person in terms of imaging and soundstage, but good to know general trends among impressions. My...

Focal Hadenys & Azurys Review & Measurements

Thanks for the impressions. Waiting for my unit to be shipped. Should be soon. How’s the imaging and soundstage of the Azurys?

    AXEL GRELL HEADPHONE

I haven’t heard any closed-back Focals. I’ll see if the Azurys is claustrophobic sounding or not when I get them.

Focal Hadenys & Azurys Review & Measurements

I agree, I got spoiled with the 210g R70x and personally now 350g~ is pretty much my limit. 300g~ or less is my ideal. 400g+ is just too much for me even if the weight distribution is good.

    AXEL GRELL HEADPHONE

I have a Beyer T1 Gen 3 and it can fluctuate a lot based on the positioning and it seems ones ear shape. Helps explain why those have such wildly varying impressions as well to the point where their impressions are like they are talking about an entirely different headphone. The Grell OAE1...

    AXEL GRELL HEADPHONE

Yeah but it also gives me time to debate whether I want to keep the pre-order or not; not supposed to ship till late June so have plenty of time to think about it.

    AXEL GRELL HEADPHONE

I did decide to pre-order the OAE1, very curious about the sound of the headphone. Since it’s a limited run headphone I thought would be smart to pre-order now.

    AXEL GRELL HEADPHONE

I gather the Elegia is the least liked of the Focal closed-backs and supposed to be strangely tuned. I gather the new Azurys is better tuned and more spacious than the typical focal closed back sound. Will see if they are decently spacious for a closed back when I get them, my closed Beyers are...

    AXEL GRELL HEADPHONE

The pleather pads are a big reason why I didn't preorder them and I have a lot of Senns, I've also never owned a Focal

    AXEL GRELL HEADPHONE

I was going to pre-oder the OAE1, but ended up pre-ordering the Azurys. May also get the OAE1 sometime soon though. Was more in the market for a neutral closed-back though.

    AXEL GRELL HEADPHONE

I think it’s something that mainly comes from the old DT Beyers and their varying impedances. The higher impedance models had a lighter voice coil which means a faster more responsive driver.

    Unveiled: Meet the HD 620S

Yeah I have as well the stock pads are must for me on the HD 6xx line. A few companies have done the multiple pad thing where the headphones come with two different tuned pads specifically made for the headphone. First examples that come to mind to me are the DT 1770/1990 Pro and the HD 490 Pro...

    Unveiled: Meet the HD 620S

With many headphones I’ve personally had pretty poor luck with pad rolling, it takes a lot of trail and error and it often ruins something about the sound even if it’s not immediately apparent. The pads are honestly why I’m holding off on the HD 620S for now, definitely plan on listening to them...

    Sennheiser HD 660S2 thread

I think it’s worthwhile to have at least one HD 6xx headphone in ones lineup. The R70x is simply the only non HD 6xx headphone I found that fills the HD 6xx role for me. I do think the S2 is more resolving and technically capable than the R70x, whereas the R70x is more neutral and spacious...

    Sennheiser HD 660S2 thread

Yes it is, closest sounding headphone I’ve heard to the HD 6xx line outside of the HD 6xx line including other Senns. Some benefits and some drawbacks compared to the HD 6xx line.

    Sennheiser HD 660S2 thread

Honestly the HD 660S2 is probably the least boring Sennheiser I had in terms of inherent character, it was really nice to me at first too. Sadly fatigue is what caused me issues and I haven't been able to properly address it, removing the foam sadly didn't work either though it did make it more...

Focal Hadenys & Azurys Review & Measurements

I personally like a prominent bass, so the Azurys may be more to my tastes, but can't always tell unless I listen to both.

Focal Hadenys & Azurys Review & Measurements

I was looking at the HD 620S but Sennheiser’s track record of closed-backs and past experience with them haven’t been good, there have been decent ones but Senn seem to miss the mark more than anything. It’s not really a FR response thing, they’re often just lacking and don’t sound right. Maybe...

Focal Hadenys & Azurys Review & Measurements

Yeah it is funny, lol. But to be more clear I’m selling off like 4-5 headphones, mostly many of my more neutrally tuned headphones which I have too many of.

Focal Hadenys & Azurys Review & Measurements

I ordered a pair of Azurys, gather they are coming out in June, so looking forward to trying them out. The Azurys appealed to me more due to the fact it seems to be one of the few truly neutral closed-backs without FR compromises (lower mid dip, etc.), they have cloth pads (huge deal for me with...

Focal Hadenys & Azurys Review & Measurements

That's good to hear, been a bit disappointed with the HD 660S2 honestly largely due to the somewhat obscure sounding upper mids and highs. I actually decided I’m going to opt for the Focal Azurys over the Hadenys due to it being $150 cheaper and I am more in the market for a neutrally tuned...
