Meze EMPYREAN - the First Isodynamic Hybrid Array Headphone
I am a huge metal fan, live for the double bass. I have never heard an open back set which has really punchy bass. I would recommend auditioning the Z1Rs.- Rockin_Zombie

Huh interesting, I find the Dali controls the most intuitive. No swiping bs. The only mistake I have made a couple times is accidentally power off while trying to switch ANC mode. But got used to it pretty quickly.- Rockin_Zombie

Meze Liric Closed Back
I would kill for a set of wireless planars tbh. The two full-size wireless planars in existence (Edifier Spirit S3 and Drop Panda) had pretty poor build quality. I am blown away by my PSB TWM wireless planar IEMs. This is an untapped market where Meze can get in IMO.- Rockin_Zombie

Went on a hifi bender after purchasing the io-12s. Been listening to a lot of bass heavy headphones (Empys and Z1R) and now I'm kinda digging the "bass" mode on the io-12s when commuting. Screw critical listening give me all the boom :gs1000smile: I haven't heard the other high end ANC...- Rockin_Zombie

Meze EMPYREAN - the First Isodynamic Hybrid Array Headphone
The universal acclaim for the Z1Rs made me take the leap. They are a match made in heaven honestly. The Z1R bass does make the Empys sound bass light after immediate switch :dt880smile:.- Rockin_Zombie

Sony Z1R....listening impressions only
Just joined the club, was looking for a companion to my Empys. First impression: holy mother of bass! Immediately put on some old school rap cuz these headphones deserve them. Question: Any suggestion for a compact enough hard shell carrying case? I was planning to keep them at work but now I...- Rockin_Zombie

Does anyone know where I can purchase spare pads for the IO-12? I would like them for my IO-6, much more comfortable and spacious than the stock IO-6 pads. Tried the XB1000 pads on the IO-6 and IO-12 and they sound like crap, all the bass gone and congested treble. Waste of $20 with the adapter...- Rockin_Zombie

Meze EMPYREAN - the First Isodynamic Hybrid Array Headphone
Anyone has a recommendation for a closed back counterpart for the empys? I was thinking liric or Z1R. Heard that the Lirics are brighter than the empys. Any other suggestions? Preferably planars- Rockin_Zombie

Meze EMPYREAN - the First Isodynamic Hybrid Array Headphone
Recently joined the Empy club with a used deal locally. Can't take them off from my head, it's affecting my work, send help . I have recently become a fan of oratory1990's EQs, but with the Empys I actually think the EQ makes it worse. I guess that mid-bass hump works for my type of...- Rockin_Zombie

I have updated the IO-6 firmware with their windows software without any hassle, I assume IO-12 will eventually have the same option if a firmware update is needed.- Rockin_Zombie

The FT5s reminded me how great planar bass can be, so I got greedy and got the Empyreans. However, the FT5s hold on their own I would say. Of course they are not in the same league resolution-wise, but have a similar warm signature. I am never getting HiFimans ever again, too bass shy for me...- Rockin_Zombie

Headphones for metal music - ultimate solution
The treble extension definitely makes for a good representation for metal. I think both has their pros and cons. I had the HE-6s as my endgame for the longest time, fantastic treble and soundstage. Got bored, now went the other way with Empyrean. Too many headphones, not enough time!- Rockin_Zombie

Empyrean 1 VS 2
If you like more neutral (more details), Empyrean II. Empyrean OG is polarizing, if you don't like warm signature you won't like them. For rap and dance, OG will be better. For pop, probably II. I recommend trying them out. I tried out the IIs and didn't care much. Got the OGs today and...- Rockin_Zombie

I got those 3D printed adapters but for different reasons, planning to run my IO-6s with the XB1000 pads for comfort :gs1000smile: Will try them with the IO-12s as well cuz why the hell not.- Rockin_Zombie

Headphones for metal music - ultimate solution
I should really stop coming to head-fi, my wallet and ears crying for different reasons. The Empys are made for metalheads who love bass/kickdrums. No EQ needed (although I know I will EQ the f out of them just for kicks)- Rockin_Zombie

I kinda agree with them, Sony ruined the xm5s by focusing way too much on ANC. I have tried all the EQs in the world and nothing can fix that mess.- Rockin_Zombie

A little squeeze yes, it depends on how you plan to use the case. I use this case when I am throwing the headsets in my backpack, so they don't stay in this case for more than an hour. They are around my neck 90% of the time when I am out and about, this is for those occasional cases where an...- Rockin_Zombie

I don't have HD650s anymore, but from memory I would say Soundstage - 650 Bass -FT5 by far after eq Comfort - 650 by quite a bit, but if your head is average to small FT5 gets 80% there Rest pretty equal. HD650 felt slightly more veiled due to the treble dips IIRC. Also FT5 takes eq better...- Rockin_Zombie

More update after two days of 6+ hours per day use: These are probably the least fatiguing headphones I have owned after HD650. I am glad I don't have a big head or ears, so they are super comfortable for me. I didn't even realize I have been using them for so long at a time. The tuning is quite...- Rockin_Zombie

I followed oratory1990's EQ and measurements. Looks like there is actually a dip around 4k, hence the boost. I tried reducing it, but makes things a bit muffled with the bass boost. Might play around a little more with it. BTW, try Black Sabbath's God is Dead on the FT5, esp. with bass boost. I...- Rockin_Zombie

The Diablo really rocks these headphones. I tweaked oratory's EQ to be a little more rock/metal friendly, these headphones take EQ really well, as with any planar. Fantastic bass without any boom. It's like subwooofers attached to your face! Feel free to try it out: Preamp: -4.8 dB Filter 1...- Rockin_Zombie
