I just got the new Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro X and for gaming in Destiny 2 they're better than the MMX300, Tygr, DT770 or DT880 250 ohm. For a closed back they're really great. I put a review here at:

Imo the 800 sounds better without that mod. I use Equalizer APO to change the sound.

Gaming headphones have to have a mic for me. I’ve been using the drop PC38x. They sound fine and the mic quality is good. Also like how it turns off when you flip the mic up. No trouble with them for a couple years now. Wish they were not yellow on the inside, but other than that they are great!

I've tried a pair from a friend and they were surprisingly great! I do agree that the coloring decisions are not my favorite though.
