Sony Acquiring Audeze!

That’s probably no longer up to Audeze but seems that Audeze will be allowed to continue its venture with high-end audiophile products for the time being. We dont know the details of the contract nor Sony’s long-term intentions. Sony already detailed upcoming planar products but did they mention Audeze in their statements? Are Sony’s upcoming planars built or designed by Audeze?

Im sure Audeze ownership sold for good reason, so congrats!

One of the partners of Audeze left a while ago to create Rosson Audio and the other guy is either cashing out completely or still maintaining intellectual control over the company. If the latter is true, then we can expect the line up to continue.

Sony might just use the Audeze patents to manufacture mass market gaming headphones for PlayStations.

One thing to note is that the acquisition was not done by Sony Electronics which already has good headphones, IEMs and DAPs in its line up.

Strange Sony didnt show any interest in acquiring Stax back in 2011, maybe thats because they dont make gaming headphones, seems a bit vacuous for Sony to buy up Audeze when only part of their business is headphones for gaming, seems like a knee jerk reaction from Sony who often cut parts of their non profit making business loose (Vaio and robotics etc).

Maybe Sony Japan is not the only decision maker here.
Why would that be "vacuous"? They want to expand and make better products and acquire companies that can make good products. Good for them, I hope Kawasaki buys Harley Davidson next.

Because Sony only seem to be looking at the headphones Audeze make for the gaming market, and not their Audiophile/recording studio focussed headphones.

To be fair we need to see what happens next and whatever it is that Sony are going to do with Audeze.

Is it going to be like when Logitech acquired UE, and then Jerry Harvey Audio came about? Sankar Thiagasamudram audio will come out after Audeze gets sold? lol

The spin off company to Audeze will have to be called... Illyad.

Maybe Sony is trying to learn how to spin-off marketing in Japan for their other products with newer technology concepts, like what is featured at 6:32 in this video:

Electrostatic is much more fussy and need maintenance than even planar,
