Hey all,
Just thought I'd post the information here.
http://www.sharp.co.jp/products/mdst880/index.html
Sharp says the new Dolby Headphones chip used in the MD player was developed with Lake Technology. In this application it's meant to provide a more "frontal" imaging.
Using this function (3 modes with different "room size" and reverb) though, cuts the battery life in half.
Otherwise the player itself is like the existing MT77 in most aspects - including the 5+5mW @32ohm amp.
Edit - Here's what seems to be the extra chip in the player. Scroll down to "VZ chip custom VLSI licensees".
