Hehe that looks great. How did you attach them to the headband?

without EQ what do they "lack"?
Speaking of imaging. I think the best impression I ever got was when I had the i4 connected to my FiOS btr5 Bluetooth device, using it to play legend of Zelda on my Nintendo Switch. I was outdoors in the game and was hearing what sounded like crickets or something similar. I'm on my living room couch, near a closed window. I paused the game several times, thinking I was hearing something outside my apartment, and it took me several attempts to realize I was hearing something in game through the i4, and not something actually outside. It was unreal...or rather TOO real 😁

Definitely some type of bass shelf roll off, mid range sucked out, and a upper treble spike feeling, due to the loos of midrange presence. They can sound ok with some dacs. I used them without eq for months I thought I liked them. The cipher cable, came later for me, and while I enjoyed the tonal presentation, seeing as it showed what it could do, the details of a better DAC/amp was missing. Using the eq on my DAP gave me like 80% of the right tone, and all of the resolution.

Hey fellas, how are you creating the horseshoe clips that attach to the i4?
For me, I like the ear hooks but they keep breaking every few months at the clip where they connect to the i4.
I'm going to get some ear hooks printed to hopefully find a more permanent solution.
Any advice?
I measured the radius and modeled it in solidworks and I 3d printed them, it's been like 5-6 years though lemme see if I still have the files 😅

Got some custom tips for the i4s! Soundstage is ever so slightly narrower but damn cohesion is on another level. Comfort is really on another level esp. when paired with extra thin cables from OE Audio (2DualOFC).

How did you get those custom tips?
I got these made from Poland (Custom Art), just send them a 3D scan of your ear impressions and you should be good to go. It took me exactly a month to get these from when I placed my order.

After 7 years of owning the i4s I finally got a coupler to properly measure them..

For the longest time I haven't been completely satisfied with Reveal or cipher or any of the EQ equivalent, I finally feel like I know what I'm working with  can't believe after 7 years I'm still having so much fun tinkering with them

Can you show measurements with and without Cipher cable on one screen?
Unfortunately I don't have an iphone anymore :triportsad:

Instead here is an EQ I've spent the last week or so tuning which sounds 95% like my KEF LS50 Meta, with my HRTF ear gain of course.
SQL:
Preamp: -15.4 dB
Filter 1: ON PK Fc 21 Hz Gain 7.5 dB Q 1.000
Filter 2: ON PK Fc 50 Hz Gain 12.0 dB Q 0.500
Filter 3: ON PK Fc 52 Hz Gain -2.1 dB Q 1.400
Filter 4: ON PK Fc 380 Hz Gain 1.4 dB Q 0.700
Filter 5: ON PK Fc 860 Hz Gain -5.9 dB Q 1.800
Filter 6: ON PK Fc 1540 Hz Gain -5.8 dB Q 2.000
Filter 7: ON PK Fc 3200 Hz Gain 5.3 dB Q 1.700
Filter 8: ON PK Fc 4000 Hz Gain 12.0 dB Q 0.500
Filter 9: ON PK Fc 5200 Hz Gain 3.9 dB Q 1.500
Filter 10: ON PK Fc 8800 Hz Gain -2.7 dB Q 0.500
Filter 11: ON HSC Fc 1500 Hz Gain -0.8 dB Q 1.000

I got a usb c -> lightning connector, here is the frequency response with and without cipher cable (lightning connector not the bluetooth one)

My i4 looks more like a i3 than some of the i4 graphs online, and also the measurements seem to vary a lot depending on the measurer, not sure if it's just due to manufacturing variance or difference in measurement rig, mine looks most like crinacle's 711 measurements with an early 850Hz peak then a 1.5k one followed by a big 4.5k dip. i'm also using spinfit tips so that might change the resonance and treble peaks
