For now all I've got is this SBLive with a Live Drive II and I am using it's optical out to record CD's to MD (MZR-900) temporarily. And I'm concerened with the SBLives Upsampling will it affect the sound in anyway? as the SBLive will upsample and the MD player will downsample.......NOOOOOOOOO.....am I doomed to lisen to this for the next few days.
I dont even have my etys to look for differences

At least now your Etys won't be subjected to nasty, re-sampled recordings.

Yep, you get to listen to the grainy, phased, somewhat harsh sound that I have become so used to. Fortunately it dosen't make the music itself less enjoyable.
