I wanted to import some music on cassettes via the Line In on my AV-710 and was wondering what sampling rate I should use. The default is 44.1 but I can choose 48, 96 or 192. Thanks.

Update:

I tried all 4 sampling rates but there is some sort of high pitched whine in the background. Didn't have this problem on the TBSC.

I use 96khz to do post editing but if you're asking this question, then I presume you don't have or know how to use one of the more advanced audio editing programs.

To make CDs you'll have to convert to 16bit 44.1khz. If you're wanting to make MP3s or use other lossy files, you can leave the files as 24bit (if you recorded them as such) since the encoders will usually take those as input. I would even record at 48khz for a bit extra resolution. Many consumer devices should support 48khz.

The AV710 doesn't have a good ADC so maybe all this won't really be noticible anyway.
