I need some help identifying this tube to see if it is the Sylvania 5751 that Joe's Tube Lore has identified as being the best sounding tube for my MG Head OTL.

You don't want it.

The Sylvania you are looking for has black plates and 3 mica spacers. The one in your pictures have grey plates and 2 mica spacers.

I have that tube. I don't use it.

Not real cheap, but they're from a reputable dealer and are tested. Luckily, you only need one and not a matched quad.

Hee-hee, I was the one that cleaned him out of the Sylvania Blackplate Goldbrand. After much use, it's finally come into it's own. I really didn't notice the difference as much between it and the Mullard until I hooked it up to my dad's Njoe Tjoeb 4000 CD Player (hey, I've had it hooked up to a 10 year-old NAD). It is very detailed and has a much more 3D presentation than the Mullard. I have decided that the bass is tighter too. Thanks for the heads-up on the 5751's Nick! One nice thing is that I even got the original (I assume so, it's an old Sylvania yellow box) box with the tube. A nice touch from those generic white boxes I get from Upscale Audio.
