Good songs to wake up to. - Page 3

For sheer shock, i'd go for Mahler's 1st symphony, movement 4. if you've heard it, you know what i mean.

A more appropriate and calm wakeup might be the prelude to "Das Rheingold" by Wagner, or even Ride of the Valkeries (from "Die Walküre" 3rd act?).

Or if you need some energy, "Arise Ye Russian People" from Prokofiev's Alexander Nevesky would be perfect. makes you want to run out and kill Germans (if you've seen the movie that is).

For personal use, I do the first track on Engie's Choice 2, the audiophile's all-purpose recording... (it's the 1812 overture, but starts slowly and builds up, so you can get up quickly if you slept well or it will throw you out of bed if you're refusing to get up...)

I was working on another island and staying with friends who had the TV configured as an alarm clock. For about two weeks straight I was awakened at 4:00am to the blaring sound of Natalie Merchant singing Wonder on VH1. It became addicting...

Dar Williams - Better Things

Energizing (and annoying enough at the end to make you get up)

i had been up all night reading these forums and listening to music and i look at the time and it was 5 in the morning and i had work at 10, so i quickly went to bed and then got a headache and the birds had started singing and all i could think was ''please stop, just stop, just stopppppppppppppp!!!'' hrmmmmm i should of gone to sleep, but yeah bird song is good to wake up not to try to go to sleep.

oh yeah since we are on the subject..... my favourite song to drift off to sleep is ''Jet Lag'' -- Frank Turner , such a good song and the piano is just great!!! :)
