Tried the foamies for the Ety 4P/S last night. Not because I was having trouble with the regular white tips. Mainly because I had been trying to convince/show my wife that these things DO sound better than... well... just about anything else!

Anyway, the wife did NOT appreciate the white tips. So, I took out the foamies and tried to get her to listen for a bit. But, the white tips seem to have left a major impression (pun intended) on her. She wouldn't go near them again. Since the foamies were already there (and my wife left the room wondering why I would voluntarily subject myself to that weird and expensive torture device), I decided to try them out.

Unfortunately, my ear canals may be larger than most (certainly larger than my wifes!). Try as I might, I couldn't get a decent seal. Seemed more of an issue with the left side than the right. Although they were acceptable, I didn't get the same sound with the foamies.... typical poor seal problems, lack of bass, shrill/sibilant treble, etc. After trying for an hour to get a decent seal, I switched back to the white tips. Amazing! I'm still tickled by the feeling and the sound!!!

Anyway, I thought that I had seen mention of newer, larger foamies coming soon. Anyone else remember this? Or am I mixing up stories of foamies for the ER6 and two different size white tips for ER4???

Etymotic has had larger foamies for the 4S/4P's for awhile now. They are yellow in color.
