What are your top ten favorite rock bands?
Mar 26, 2002 at 5:12 PM Post #46 of 68
Top ten (in no particular order):

Beatles
Pixies
Charlatans
Belly
Radiohead
Garbage
Primal Scream
Stone Roses
Smiths
Death Cab For Cutie

As a side note, there are some classic bands that I consider better bands than the ones on my list (e.g. Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin), but these are the ones I listen to more than those better bands. I chose these as my "favorite" rock bands. If the poll were to list the "best" rock bands, the list would look very different.

Here are 10 that I would be happy with if forced to eliminate all others:
Growing up in Seattle we got to see many bands at the start of their tours. In the 60's Seattle was where you tried out a new show. I have also noted those that I was lucky enough to see in person.

Led Zeppelin Live in Seattle
Cream Live in Seattle
Bluesbreakers
Doors Live in Seattle
Ten Years After
Hendrix Live in Seattle
Jefferson Airplane Live in SF
ZZ Top
AC-DC
Pink Floyd

OK...here we go (in order):

The Beatles
The Beach Boys
The Rolling Stones
The Who
Aerosmith
The Dave Matthews Band
U2
REM
Pink Floyd
The Ramones

OK...I'm thinking that's the list. It will tend to fluctuate, but the Beatles will always stay on top.

Always great how a topic can spring up over a year later and continue right where it left off

... anyway, as others did, note STRONGLY that this is a favorites list, I believe only 2 of these would make my 'best' list, especially considering none of these folks recorded prior to the 90s.

(In alphabetical order just because)
311
Dispatch
Finch
Gordian Knot
Our Lady Peace
Pedro The Lion
Radiohead
The Early November
