Sound Card With Lowest Jitter?

Has anyone researched to find the sound card that has the highest quality SPDIF? Is it better to use a USB SPDIF source vs. a PCI card? What do you recommend?

That is nearly impossible to answer unless somebody has the equipment and access to many cards.

IIRC Stereophile measured the digital outputs on the EMU 1010 (the digital card for their 1212m and 1820/m products) and it compared very well to many stand-alone transports. I cannot find the link though.
