I love classic TV comedies. My all time favorite is the "Jeffersons".
Does anyone know where you can get DVD's of the "Jeffersons"?

AFAIK, you can't. There aren't a great deal of t.v. shows out on dvd yet. If you're curious, a quick search at amazon.com or any other online dvd retailer will let you know if your favorites have been released on dvd.

I don't know about the jeffersons, but a lot of tv series are being released on DVD in europe. (eg., futurama, family guy, others)

take a look around on amazon.co.uk also, you might find something there (but it would be region 2?)

good luck.

Yeah, some pointed me to a site in the UK, which had The A team and Knight Rider (drool), but my dvd player can't play those region 2 discs.

Family Guy had better get released in Region 1, or else my next dvd player is going to be region-free.

For some strange reasons, Studios thinks R2 people buy more TV series and release them way before R1. Apart from X-files, Star Trek & Sex and the city, R2 have more earlier release date for TV series. And there a some that's not even on R1, strange.

You can get ALL the Friends episodes on DVD here, from the beginning to present, where R1 only get "The best of"

Fraiser's First series is coming out next month

Buffy season 4 is out in May

Angel Season 2 is out also in May

Ally McBeal is starting to be release on DVD

But all these boxsets cost a fortune!, Buffy & Angel boxsets cost £70/$100 each!

Actually, the reason for it is sindication. The U.S. has the most TV stations of any country in the world, and thus the most opportunities for reruns

By promising the "minor" stations that they won't release the episodes on video for so many years, the majors can get a heck of a lot more money for the syndication rights ... while selling the DVDs in other areas of the world.

Excellent point MacDEF, this is something they always talk about here especially with shows that hit the 100 mark. In my case, i simply don't receive some of those stations that play all those re-runs, like A-Team and Knight Rider

I can't wait for this myself. For whatever reason, I rarely see it on t.v., but every episode I've seen has been hilarious. I'd buy it in a second.

if you get this dvd player (only $110!):

http://www.us.buy.com/retail/product...050950&loc=111

and download firmware from this page:

http://www.dvd-wizards.com/darrenk/Sampo/firmware.htm

not only will you have a region-free dvd player, but one that has macrovision disabled as well. i imagine the quality of it is not that wonderful because of its price, however.. probably worth it if you wanted to watch region 2 dvds. plus, you could dub them to vhs whenever you wanted for friends or friends' houses, etc.

http://www.area450.com/ has more information about this player including forums, reviews, and other mods.
