Actually, as someone who has a lot of experience with lots of hardware (Apple and Wintel), I tend to be quite reasonable on these issues. However, I also have a "venue" bias -- on Apple-centric mailing lists and forums, I tend to be more critical of Apple stuff. But on boards like this where, sadly, most people don't have the slightest of clues about Apple hardware or software, those of us who do have a good background (myself, Russ, etc.) tend to spend more time battling "misconceptions."
