After reading many E-MU 1212M topics one question is still not clear to me: How is the card compare to decent audiophile CDP transports in digital output to use with jitter sensitive DACs (for example AudioNote DACs are ones, not like DAC1 many people using even with an AV-710). OK, somebody said that it has a very decent digital output, but it was compared to other soundcards, not CDPs. I would like to build some DIY tube DAC, but what I could find was mainly for good CDP transports, not for budget PC cards. So,
1. is the card good for digital output from stock, or
2. should I try to mod the digital board for better digital out (any information on it?), or
3. should I buy a Monarchy DIP classic (or do you know any cheap alternative?)

if you're building your own DAC, the best thing you can do is to use some low jitter oscillator like Tent Clock or Kwak Clock inside your DAC and running S/PDIF output from your DAC to the card's digital input and letting the card synchronise to the incomming clock, that way you end up with absolutely jitter-free transmission and you can use any card with s/pdif in and out which has the capability to lock on external clock (pretty much every serious card)..
