Hey guys it's been a while since we last got together.I had a great time meeting all you guys and Tyll and Danny from Headroom.Reynman,Acidtripwow and myself have been in the early planning stages of a spring Chicago head-fi meeting.when I say planning I mean we are now looking for a spot to host the meet.We have three places in mind.
1.Van L Speakerworks on north Western ave. in the city. This place has three listening rooms and carries some of the stuff head-fiers use.I have personally never been there but reynman likes this place and has contacted the owner about the possible use of this establishment for our meeting.
2.Decibel Audio in bucktown on Milwuakee ave.The owners are personal friends of mine and have helped a lot with my store plans. There is no listening room but they have a large open showroom and a nice selection of high value lines that no one else has and they will let you hear anything. They always serve up large quantities of beer and lively conversation as well.this site will restrict our meeting to a sunday date only.
3. Music Direct in the north loop area on 318 north laflin. This the online and mail order retailer of all kinds of recordings(vinyl, sacd,cd) and audio equipment.they have a new listening room and a VERY enthusiastic staff including Bes the "best' guy there. They have all kinds of goodies in stock here.this place is heaven on earth for a head-fier/audiophile/music lover.we still have to convince the owner to host our meeting but I don't see him turning down potential local customers.A few of us plan on meeting here next weekend to check the place out.I go there probably twice a month and love strolling the isles of records and cds.
Understand that these sites are all in the idea stage only and I make this post to entertain other ideas and gage interest from other Chicago area head-fiers .we would like to have this meeting in late April-early May.this is mainly Reyman's idea,I am just assisting him at this point.if anyone is interested in checking out any of the sites email or pm me so that we can get together to see them. Also understand that all three of these sites are in the business of retail sales,so you know that they are in this to increase customer base and sales.we need to finalize plans in the next three weeks to allow a 1 month lead time to our chosen host site.I hope you guys don't mind that Rey and I have taken point on this, but again all suggestions are welcomed and we look forward to hearing from you guys.We want the Chicago meeting to be the largest and most enthusiastic.I have lots of stuff to bring and any of our hosts will provide equipment as well.I will also contact Headroom about possibly lending some gear for auditioning purposes as well.Well, lets do this.
