Hi I'm enjoying my T5P first gen. They're currently hocked up to a schiit stack 2. While I love the sound stage, clear highs, detail and imagining that these produce, I would like to gain a bit of warmth, tame highs just a little bit, and have a very slightly fuller, lusher sound.

I have considered getting as amp:
Little Dot +1
Schiit Vali 2
Schiit lyr 2

Which amp would you get? Andi which tubes would you consider?

Thanks a lot!

Hi mate,

For starters, the Lyr is overkill in terms of power and $$. It would future-proof any other purchases down the line though! Being 32ohm resistance you don't really need to

The Vali is pretty neutral, and won't really warm things up that noticeably IMHO over the Magni, being a hybrid.

While it's also a hybrid, the LD1+ offers a ton of tube-rolling/op-amp rolling options, and is a pretty cheap investment - there's a huge thread on the options / experiences of various head-fiers and the combos they've rolled - might be your best bet.

Hey Mightygre, thanks for your answer!

I realize that the Lyr 2 has power to spare for the T5P. It's not so much that I'm aiming at more power, but better SQ.  The Lyr 2 is also a hybrid, do you think it's going to warm things up?

Also, any idea how the LD1+ compares to the Lyr 2? I've searched lots of threads but haven't been able to find a comparison

Didn't get the Lyr 2 at the end. Decided to go for the project polaris.

So let me share my experience with the T5P first gen :)

The sounded overly bright, analytical, shouty with the Magni 2.

I then got a Project Polaris amp that sounds absolutely wonderful. Larger soundstage, sounds are fuller, much more precise. Sounds to die for. It's definitely a warm amp and can become even warmer with the 54 settings available. The only downside that I found was some noise that I attribute mainly to my noisy USB port in my computer (going to get a Wyrd, see if that solves things). Things improved considerably using a -20dB adapter sold by by Jeremy, who is a great guy and a joy to deal with!

So, basically, The Beyerdynamic T5P first gen makes a great match with the Polaris amp. :)
