Sony NW-A35 or Apple iPod Touch?

Do you currently have any source? For example iPhone or PC. If you are having a source and sound quality is your first priority then I think you should go for a DAC rather than buying a new player because a DAC provides much better sound quality for the same price compared to a player.

I have an s7 edge. It's already pretty big so stacking is my last option. Unless I buy a dragonfly red (which is in the same price with the daps I mentioned) or a dac with a similar footprint.

A dedicated dap is going to be much better than an iPod. I got one to use as a dap, and the quality wasn't good. Do you have a budget, or are you just looking at these two? I have heard the iPod, and don't reccomend it, but I haven't heard anything in that price range really. If you can bump your budget up a bit I can 100% reccomend the Astell & Kern AK Jr. Spectacular sound quality, great build quality, and a slim profile.

Dragonfly Red has a very very good sound for its price, but its drawbacks are very clear: it doesn't have any battery so it will drain your phone battery quickly. I think stacking is the best option
