omg. i just heard something i didn't even hear with the R10 and the 010. On "Always on my mind" the intro electronic bass has some funky sampling doodlings over the bass. The R10 picked it up, the 010 showed you the fine details between each bass tone harmonic - but the Dt770 just revealed a faint echo bass backbeat in the bottom left side of my cup. I have to hear it again...yep there it is again! Amazing....is this the Solo? The DT770? who cares! the Solo is bringing out the best in this 600 Ohm beast! ARGH I'M IN LURVE!

I haven't gotten this excited since, well, the Ms-2 and that was with a cmoy and an ipod lol. I can't wait until i can bear to take these cans off and give the MS-2 a whirl...but not yet!

Congrats the great looking amp and re-cabled DT770s, I'm almost tempted to try the 770s again but with a silver cable of course. So when are you sending the MS-2s to larry for re-cabling?

Don't think I'm not tempted! Of course if I did, the total cost I put into the MS-2 would be in used RS-1 territory so I'd have to consider it carefully. But honestly I know I love the MS-2 as it is, so I can probably hold of until, say, tomorrow.

Looks like power conditioning did help you out.

Santana - put your lights on. OH lordy. Who knew this track was hiding so much bass? It reminds me of when on the same track i went from the 010 to the R10 and said "oh, THERE is the bass!" fun phone! but it isn't sibilant - the cymbals still sound like cymbals - it's not shimmering, but it's there. this is a sledgehammer of a can, but the recabling probably put a nice respectable coat of paint on it - who knows, since i only had a diff pair to compare with a few weeks ago and it was a 80 ohm version. i hear a 650 is coming to the qualia meet. let's put the King of Bass match to the test!

come to think of it, this might have something to do with the ONEAC CL1102 that came in too. the noise floor is as black as night with this solo. this is not the case with the SR71, but that may be because the magwires mini to rca IC is more sensitive to EM than the audioquest diamondblack ICs.

ok, don't show the wife, but i'm going to post a pic soon of what came in the mail today soon...

PS1 on Melos is insanity. It's different kind of bass though. I'm afraid to hear it.

Your Honor, the plaintiff would like to present Exhibit A: reason for divorce. This was on the table on September 15. The husband in question attempted to hide the evidence and present it as minimally as possible, but we have fortunately captured this shot for your judgment...

Something is going on here. I think alot of you know I like "Scrubs" as my ultimate subwoofer bass test. Well I upgraded to buy this track on CD for the cleanest source I could get for it - running the 3960 through the ONEAC, now hooked up to the Solo, and with the DT770 - I discovered new depths. The bridge has ultra-subsonic bass lurking below. Honest, I never ever heard this before. Some cans won't even pick up the normal subwoofer type bass prevalent all over this track - but now I'm hearing a sub sub something in what I previously thought was a bass-free quieter passage on this track. egads.

Just slapped on the MS-2. Whoa. Mids and mid-highs, up front and center! The bass is still here, it delves pretty deep, but it's not rattling my brain. hmm.....the part in the bridge where i know the sub sub bass to be is present - i'm sensing it because i know it to be there - but with the MS-2 it's more of a drop in air pressure if that makes sense. the DT770 will give you the drop and the actual bass tone. but in terms of musicality, the MS-2 is more fun if you want to get into the singing and the rap - but the DT770 is the beatmeister. I love BOTH these cans! the Solo is just ripping it up. i'm a happy happy man.

and lan i hope the similarities end there. i dont want you coming over and saying "ah that's where i put that" and taking all my precious boxes away please!

funny thing is the wife sort of didn't register the new gear in my rig - amazing. even after i griped a bit about paying $30 for beyer to send my the wrong pads, she was like "eh." Hmm - "must have been a good day, she didn't have to use her A-K."

How could the wife NOT notice the extra bulk on the table? I just don't get it! Anyhow don't worry folks those old beyer pads are going to be replaced soon - but not by the pleather ones mistakenly sent me by Beyer. Ignore that EQ, it's on just for show - but do note SRV wailing on the LCD...yep for live rock I just had to put on the MS-2s and with the Solo it rocketh.

That is funny. My wife was talking to some friends at dinner and we got on the subject of the meet at my house in Oct. She mentioned that she doesn't ever notice when my gear changes or new stuff is added. She said there are just some things sitting there with tubes sticking out. It's like a license to upgrade. I think I see a new tube amp in my future. Enjoy your amp.

You know what? I don't know if you can believe this or not, but i think the bass is even deeper after recabling. the MS-2s used to be able to go toe to toe in the bass dept but now the DT770 is definitely reaching into the dirt under the cellar. the recabling resulted in more extension in both ends of the spectrum - but it's not bloated at all. but not punchy like the MS-2 - more, hmm, boomy in a good way. the mids are still not as forward as the MS-2s are, but for certain songs this signature is fine - and they dont seem as recessed as i recall the 80 Ohms being before recabling. BTW lan there are no rolled off highs coming out of the Tushi with this can

the Solo is really speeding things up - transient response is like lightning, even with the big bass of the DT770 to have to power. whatever PinkFloyd did to this amp is making it a SuperPRaT machine.

I think i'm having an aural OD. someone call 911.
