Audio-GD Singularity 19
Mar 3, 2017 at 11:14 PM Post #106 of 285

I received the Burson Cable+ for my DAW (Digital Work Station) which also is my HTPC. All my video and audio equipment is connected to a single isolation transformer for power. This helps to minimize AC noise, common mode noise and ground loops noise from affecting the equipment.  Using  Audio-GD NFB-29H DAC/AMP 2016 version which is connected to the ASUS Z97-C motherboard in a custom soundproofed case.  I am using a USB3 optical network made by Adnaco for the connection among the computer, amp and monitor.  The monitors or speakers that I using are the PreSonus Sceptre S6 near fields designed to bring out details in a DAW mix and in music. The PreSonus Sceptre S6 is a CoActual design with an elaborate crossover design that uses the  Fulcrum Acoustics Temporal Equalization algorithms. More information can be found here;  http://www.fulcrum-acoustic.com/technologies/temporal-eq.html
The Burson Cable+ is connected from the Audio-GD NFB-29H DAC/AMP which is set to utility gain to the PreSonus Sceptre S6. The PreSonus Sceptre S6 is set for minimum trim.  That way I avoid double amping.
Many amps uses opamps to drive the line outs while the headphone outputs are usually directly coupled in the amps that I have. On my Little Dot 1+ I did experiment on different audio opamps and they do sound a bit different even though the specifications for the opamps say that it should not make much of a difference in the audio band.
With the Burson Cable+ I noticed a gain increase but with a larger voltage swing that made the difference between soft and loud sounds greater.  There is a small bass boost at the lower mid-bass. There is more body to voices and female voices tend to sound fuller with less tendency toward stridency. There is more sense of forward to rear soundstage.  There is no increase in noise level that I can detect coming from the Burson Cable+.  By far the Burson Cable+ gives a more balanced sound with the Sabre ES9018 on the Audio-GD NFB-29H DAC/AMP . More of a difference than using any fancy USB power supplies or cables that I have tried. I am planning on getting a second Burson Cable+  for my secondary audio setup.

No offense but what does this have to do with this thread about the Singularity 19??? Might want to move to a new thread ...

Might be their setup related to reducing electrical noise in the system. But yeah, pretty random! That's ok though haha. I'm totally random all the time. Half of my questions are not well thought out, but rather to just extract a bunch of info from people regardless of whether it fits my situation or not.

Guys, your killing me! No SING19 owner dares to write down his opinion about the DAC19 vs SING19?

Someone send me a DAC19 and I'll do it.

Hi jodokus,

This is my first time posting here, but since I am the proud owner of a singularity DAC 19 for about 6 days, I think I can help you with my experiences.

Last year I bought an Audio Gd NFB28 Headphone amplifier and used it with my Sennheiser HD650. I changed some cables.
The balanced cable for the Sennheiser made a big improvement. I was so impressed by the detailed and transparent sound, that I couldn't listen anymore to my Musical Fidelity M1 DAC on my main set.
I decided to order a DAC 19 Singularity.

Last week I received the new DAC and connected it. Initially I was not impressed with the sound. The Low frequencies were much more presented than it used to be with the M1 DAC, but the mid and high were a bit "flat".
The next day I had to go away for work for 4 days and tuned my streamer to a tune-in radio station and kept it busy for these days.

When I came back yesterday the sound was completely different!
The mids and highs suddenly were back and were much more in balance with the low frequencies.
Very impressive already after 6 days of burn-in. It probably needs a few more weeks. The sound is still developing.

Initially I was hesitating whether to buy the DAC19 or the Singularity DAC19.
But for me the most important thing was, that the Singularity is a kind of future proof, with the possibilty of future software updates.

The Musical Fidelity DAC gave me the feeling, that there was a curtain in front of the speakers.
I don't have this feeling with this new DAC. This is a much more transparent, musical and detailed sound.

I hope this will help you.

Best regards.

are you connecting the s19 to your amp via acss /xlr?

someone send me both and i will do both.

Over the weekend I have been in contact with Magna Hifi (Re-seller of Audio-GD). They confirmed me Audio-GD have put a lot efforts in re-development of the "traditional R2R" design. Kingwa already explains in earlier posts the technical details. Looks like Kingwa did an excellent job (again). Besides the technical aspects, what I confirm right now is: After a burn-in of several days I the Singularity 19 sounds very fast, calm and transparent.  I will have a listening session in ~2 weeks to do a direct DAC19 / Singularity 19 comparison - will post my results.

Sorry, that must be a misunderstanding.
I use both in a different place in my house.
The NFB28 is in use as a Headphone amplifier and I use the singularity DAC19 to feed my preamp on my main set in the living room. On that set I was planning to upgrade in the future to an Audio GD preamp.

Great to hear from you guys, I'll be patient for the head to head! My previous dac is de M1 dac as well and the DAC19 is burning in for 3 days now. My experience is a bit the same with the
dark signature and flat highs, so I hope this will disappear over time. The DAC19 has a much darkter background and sounds just so much more "analogue". My fear is that the highs will stay
recessed and that the SING19 is the better option for me. I'll give it some time to settle, maybe I'm too impatient...
