Good morning guys,

My name is Bruno Robalo, i am 40 years old and i am from Portugal.

I am on a quest for the best headphones ( within my reach ) for my late nights movie watching. I have the chance of getting one of two models and i would love to hear your opinions and advices on which one to get.

I do not need nothing "top of the art". I just need something that allows me to have an enjoyable experience while watching movies at night, with surround sound, if possible.

The two options i have are:

1 - SONY MDR-DS6500 connected directly ( OPTICAL IN ) to my MACBOOK PRO transmitting the movies.
2 - STEELSERIES Siberia Elite/650 connected to my PIONEER VSX-324 Amplifier with PHONES SURROUND. Once again movie sound will be transmitted to my amplifier by my MACBOOK PRO through OPTICAL IN.

I have tried to connect the 650's to my MB directly and use the DOLBY USB sound card that comes along with them but i didn't like the sound at all.

Have a Great Weekend!
Bruno

I normally use VLC to watch movies and today i tried 5KPlayer. The sound on the 650's is much better than on VLC, using the same DOLBY USB sound card that came with the headphones and Steelseries Engine V3. No distortion at all. The only problem is that the volume is a bit lower...
