Please stop generalising and posting such things, when you don´t own the gear. The post itself is over 2 months old, and I have never heard any gaps with my AK300.

Are you looking for a 3.5mm TRRS or a 3.5mm TRS? If you're planning to run a single-ended headphone with a 3.5mm TRS from the balanced output then you're going to end up damaging your gear.
I sincerely have a doubt in this case then.
If I have an earphone which ends with a 3.5mm jack, is it possible to attach a 2.5mm adapter or requisite cable to use the balanced output port of Fiio X5 3rd gen?
Or what would I need to used my 3.5mm jack with the balanced output?

An adapter going from single-ended to balanced will cause the negative signals to short together, and this has been known to damage balanced amps and DACs.
You must re-terminate to balanced or buy/build a balanced cable.
An adapter is a no-go.
The reverse is completely okay. You can use an adapter to go from balanced to single-ended without issue.
