As an FYI, for any skipping issues or other random issues, I have always just ejected and re inserted the sd card and it has fixed the problem

So you don't have the split-second cut off at the beginning of songs? I've had that across all firmware so far and with multiple cards. I'm confident there will be a fix, and it's not apparent with every song so I'm not viewing it as a major issue right now.

Convert a file-per-track album image without a CUE sheet to a single file album image with simple CUE sheet
I bolded a feature of CUETools that should do the job for you. Give it a try...

On the first try it's not working for me. Give it try once more time tomorrow. If someone has a solution how to play flac files in a directory without gaps than please share.

FLAC without CUE simply won't be gapless with M1s. According to my engineer friend, he doesn't think it's possible with the chipset being used here which is why you need the CUE file approach.

Personally, I'd even be ok if Aune enabled location-based resume play. That way, I could rip gapless albums as one file and pick up playing where I left off if I shut M1s down mid-album.

Nope, I'm not having that issue

Try this!! ↓
http://mall.auneaudio.com/tool/M1s/M1s_1.03_EN.rar

And tell me what you think:)

How to update:

1. Copy the update.dat file to the root directory of an FAT32 microSD card, and insert the card into the M1s;
2. Select Settings - Upgrade System
3. Follow the prompts to complete the update

1.03 improvements:

1. Supports exFAT microSD cards and theoretically no upper limit for the card's capacity (256G tested);
2. File document amount support extended to 7000, and document storage support extended to 10000 files;
3. Skip read error;
4. A notification prompts when switched to LINE OUT mode;
5. Fixed a possible FLAC crash problem;
6. Improved operation accuracy of FAST FORWARD and REWIND;
7. Optimized volume curve;
8. Optimized DSD algorithm and improved the sound quality;
9. Added "Manual Update" in Settings;
10. Fixed the problem of 0.2 seconds mute at the beginning of a track;

Awesome!  I'll try this now!  Thanks for the fast response @AuneAudio!  Will report back if I find any useful info after trying.

Hi @AuneAudio!  About the update that you just posted, I tried the usual songs that I listen to which did have the 1/2-second sound drop at the beginning.  They still have the cut.  The songs don't start from the actual start.

The accidental random press of the D-pad still has instances where a quick drop/cut in sound can be heard.

I used the updated volume curve version and indeed, the volume became louder even in low gain, using my IT03.  I'm at volume 55, low gain, in a decent-sized room without loud noises, and the volume is already loud enough for me.

I will keep observing and report back anything unusual or significant improvements

  It's a very nice looking DAP and I'd be very interested in it but the loose D pad would be a concern for me...it should be tighter.

Loose pad was in a prototype (at least in my unit), the final production unit has it fixed, and with a silicone case it's solid.  Also, no issues with fast forward/back vs skip using dpad after the latest fw update.

Really? That's good to hear because I'm seriously considering getting one. I really prefer the DAPs with buttons or D-Pads over scroll wheels or touch screens and this one jumped out at me a week or so ago when I first saw it. The inclusion of the silicone case is a nice extra too. I also thought that it's inability to display album artwork was a deal breaker at first but when I think about it it's really not at all because I hardly look at the artwork when listening...if I'm interested in an album cover I usually look at it on larger scale on my computer.

I think I got a theory regarding the sound cut/drop when accidentally pressing buttons.  I happened to put the device suddenly on my table as I was on a rush.  It was somewhat abrupt if you can call it like that.  And there, the music was interrupted for like 1/2 a second or even quicker, but obviously noticeable.  So I tried to replicate it and it happened again.  I started to think about my earlier tests when buttons were accidentally pressed.  Along with this, I was also reminded about the old discmans with antishock technology, which when turned off, the sound will skip a bit.  So my theory is like it has something to do with electricity (current) being disrupted in the device, since a sudden press of buttons (all metal) or physical shock to the device causes interruption in sound.  This may be absurd but I don't know, that's why it's just a theory.  Any of you who's got better ideas might want to chip in.

@twister6 bro, the loose buttons were also present in my unit.  They're loose like when you hold the device in its naked and shake it, it sounds like there's a loose screw inside.  Thanks to the silicone case, this issue was alleviated a bit.

Another thing that I noticed was that the device can pick up signal interference from nearby mobile phones when a call or an SMS is coming.

Just my observations.  Please respect.  Thank you.
