Hi!  I am getting a brand new computer for Christmas.  I need some computer speakers to go with it.  I would like speakers with a subwoofer and hardwired   No bluetooth or wireless.  Something with some good bass punch and clear treble with warm mids.  Maximum price $400.00, but will go to $500.00 is they are really good and reliable.  They need to be well made with very good build quality and must last for years to come.  I listen to all kinds of rock, metal pop, and other genres.

Thanks

Riley

Thank you,.  Those are exactly what I am looking for.  Thank you again and Merry Christmas.

Yea, I'm very happy with my pair of Monoprice 5" studio monitors.

These things are the best. I have the white ones. The sound is spectacular for such a small box. Also, you can play them through USB

Thanks, but I would prefer to connect via computer line out.  I know it is not the best, but my new computer has limited amounts of usb port which I need for my wireless mouse and wireless keyboard and my devices I connect like my music players and external hard drive and smartphone.

I contacted monoprice about the speakers.  They said they will not work with a computer for a few reasons one of them being they have a 1/4 inch socket and an xlr balanced.  No regular sized sockets.  They are not an option now.

The Monoprice studio monitors can work off just about any 3.5mm headphone/front speaker jack on a desktop or laptop computer (PC or Mac or Linux).
Even the headphone jacks on a smart phone or iPhone or mp3 player can work with the Monoprice studio monitors
Sounds like the person you where dealing with at Monoprice is not well informed.

Do they work with computers with a single ended single line out jack?  I don't have multiple jack for line out on my new computer.

Yes, just about any studio monitor can work off the line-output jack (3.5mm) on a computer.
While a "professional" audio person might prefer to use the balanced TRS or XLR jacks on a studio monitor.
Studio monitors usually accommodate with an un-balanced 1/4" TS or RCA input jack, for the average consumer to use.

I am not going to buy them just in case they are correct.  That is a lot of money for computer speakers.  Too much for me to risk being stuck with them if they will not work and will not accept a return.  I dispise companies that charge restocking fees.  I don't want to be stuck paying that either.  I looked at the pictures of the back and it only supports 1/4 in and xlr balanced.  I believe from what I saw they are correct.  I am not going to risk my money on them.

The 1/4" jack on the back of the Monoprice studio monitors will accept a 1/4" stereo TRS plug for a balanced connection and a 1/4" mono TS plug for an un-balanced connection.
This Hosa CMP-153 will work with just about any computer or smart phone, to connect to the Monoprice studio monitors (un-balanced connection).

Suggest you talk to Monoprice again, as for a supervisor or someone there more knowledge.
Have them read page one, part 8, of the manual for the monitor, where it talks about using a TS plug.

I called Monoprice again.  They confirmed that the speakers only come with 1/4 inch plugs on both ends of each cable.  I also looked around for reviews of their service.  They were horrible.  The rumor is Monoprice makes creates tons of false perfect reviews for their products.  No thanks!  I will keep looking.  I don't have the money to be ripped off and be okay with it.  It would just cause me a great deal of stress and time that would could easily be avoided.  Lots of customers either didn't get their entire order or parts of it and Monoprice claimed it was the somebody elses fault while the post office claimed a shipping label was never created.  I am not giving them my very hard earned and limited money.  The negative reviews were found through a Google search on review websites.  Basically everybody seems to think they are a scam that is not Monoprice.
