Yippee...Am so happy to say that I booked all my flights about 10 days ago...to visit the U.S. in June 2017!
normal_smile .gif

I'll be on Long Island, NY for the first two days of this trip to attend the Head-Fi meetup, then will spend the following two weeks in Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, and Missouri visiting family.

My dad has some Marriott points, and last week he generously booked me a two-night stay at the Marriott Courtyard in Farmingdale, NY (a few miles from the meetup), on the evenings of June 9th and 10th (Friday and Saturday).

I'll probably be tired from my flights from China on that first evening after arriving in New York, so I might not feel like hanging out with anyone that Friday.

But after the meetup on Saturday, I'd love to join some folks for dinner and hang out that Saturday evening. Maybe I also can catch a ride with someone back to the hotel that evening, as I won't have a car.

Am sooooooooo looking forward to this trip!

In other news, anyway...

I just released an updated version of my EQ presets, and posted a new article about it here on Head-Fi at this new link.

I also just put out a short, 90-second follow-up video, announcing this updated version:

(It's also viewable on YouKu by clicking here.)

Bon appetit....

Haha.........I actually wasn't expecting this thread to become very active until after the CanJam NYC festival in February. I'm assuming things here will start to heat up in March.

Until then, in the meantime, I can post a few more fun songs on this thread every now and then to keep you entertained!

Have you heard of Status Audio, located in Brooklyn? I hadn't heard of them until recently either but they have a very inexpensive product lineup and are almost like Schiit Audio for headphones in that respect. Their Web site has contact info here: http://thestatusaudio.com/pages/contact

Hoping to be able to make it but the date is a bit too far out for me to plan for at the moment. Love NYC though, was born & raised there!

Here's an awesome early-'80s funk/disco classic:

"Bop Box" by the M-Zee Band

You can listen to the "Long 12" Version" (which is the best one) at the following link:

http://pesnik.su/mp3/M-Zee%20Band
(Click the first blue play button next to "6:29" to listen. You can download that MP3 with the orange button to the right.)

I could only find a lackluster version of this song on YouTube.

The mastering of this recording has a ridiculous amount of high-end treble. So, two years ago when first discovering this song, I converted the file to WAV and used an old software program called Cool Edit to reduce its high-end treble. Then, I converted it back to MP3 and added it to my music collection.

Anyway, here are some notable lyrics. It's an absolute classic for headphone fans!

...You can bop to it
Listen......
It's a bop......box.......
Turn it on
(It'll turn you on)

It's a bop......box.......
(A portable stereo)
Turn it on

(Take it everywhere you go)

You're never missin' a beat......as you walk down the street......
'Cause your box is always there......

'Cause it's a feelin'
Just a feelin'
It's just a feelin', baby
Just my box and me

Bop......box.......
Turn it on, turn it on......
It'll turn you on

You can turn up the bass
Hear it come thumpin' low
Come along with me
'Cause you can party down
Turn on your radio......well, well, well......
And let the music go
Spread the word around......that everybody can get on down......

Bop......box.......
Take your box outside
And take the music inside
Let the music play
It will make your day

Just a bump for the thread ,I will be talking to vendors about attending the meet at CanJam NYC in 2 weeks.

Would love to see Taction Technologies and V-Moda come to the meetup in June, but I don't see them on the list for CanJam NYC, either. Perhaps by June, Taction Technologies will have its product(s) on the market.

And speaking of V-Moda, I'd love to see Val Kolton plug his pair of gold-studded M-100s into my dual-listening setup, and watch the look on his face!

This sleepy thread does need a little rejuvenation again. Here's a good classical-music-style track that's great to listen to: the instrumental "Strings Mix" of the song "First Love" by Japanese pop singer Utada Hikaru. Sounds excellent on my portable headphone system while using the "Ultra Lite" / "Xtra Smooth" midbass categories in my EQ presets. In fact, this is one of the many flagship songs I can use to show off my system at the meetup.

You can sample the track on YouTube, but with lackluster sound quality:

And, of course, you can get a good-sounding MP3 of this song at http://musicmegaboxru.org/song/533305-first-love--strings-mix/download

(Just click on the rectangular box on that page with the downward-pointing arrow to download it.)

Happy listening.

Don't know what I'll be using by then, odds are good it'll still be my HE-1000, MicroZOTL2. If I have other toys, I'll bring something along as well. Source is often an issue, but my iPad (using TIDAL), into a Denon DA-10 or CEntrance HiFi-M8 as a DAC worked well for the Philly area meet, and line out from the Pono is always an option. Sometimes I bring my Koss ESP-950, which I like but most folks just let it sit, will bring it if someone would like me to.
Will do my best to come out, always enjoy this meet (schlepping out from the wilds of Central Jersey for it).

I will be forwarding the Meet link info to them in the coming weeks & updating vendor info as I get confirmation that they are attending.
