ATTICUS and EIKON, the new dynamic driver headphones from ZMF

Looks like a potential option.

That being said, in relation to my sound isolation queries, would they be effective in blocking out noise on a plane?

Anyone who heard eikon, how foes it compare with th900?
They are both biocell driver right?

In terms of frequency response, there isn't much resemblance between the two. The Eikon is pretty linear whereas the TH900 is very V-shaped. Both have excellent soundstage for a mostly closed headphone - I think the Eikon is slightly larger. Both have excellent subbass quality - the TH-900 has more quantity. Both have stellar clarity, tightness and amazingly low distortion thanks to the fantastic speed and damping capabilities of the bio-cellulose drivers.

Zach,

What are the main differences between Eikon and omni pads? Other than eikon pads being bigger.

I'm interested in trying them in my EMU Teaks.

The foam in the Eikon pads is a touch stiffer, 6.5 LB vs the 6LB stuff in the Omni pads.  The leather is the same, they both have a stiffer foam ring near the attachment to aide with seal.  The earhole is a touch a larger on the Eikon pad by a few mm, and the ear sits a few mm's closer to the driver with the eikon pads.

Aurally, the Omni pads tend to sound a touch brighter, and the Eikon pads a touch smoother.  I think they both work well on the Foster stuff, although I haven't tried the Eikon pads on my thxx.  I'll have my thxx back in a couple days and I'll give it a whirl!

Awesome! I like how the eikon pads sounds by description. I'll eagerly await your impressions with the thx00.

I have the Eikon pads on my E-MU Teak. Best pads for them by a long shot. Previous best were the THNFKATO (Omni) pads. The slightly thinner Eikon pads put my ears right in a sweet spot distance from the driver.

Eikon pads = God pads for Fostex variants, IMO.

Could always be worse aye?  At least I didn't print OMNI all over every headphone.

@ Zach How does the Atticus and Eikon sound in comparison to the TH-X00?

Can't really ask an MOT to compare his products to another manufacturer for obvious bias and respect reasons.

I am now wondering if I should also get a THNFKATO even though I have an Eikon and Atticus on order.
