I now have enough cash saved for my new amp.

Now, the next penny saved with be going in a fund for the Atticus

What amp are you going with for the Atticus?

I've been pretty set on grabbing a Decware CSP3 but just a bit worried that the combination will be too much.  The Atticus seems to be a bit picky.

Hi Daemon.

My new amp will be an EL3N amp made by 2359Glenn.

I have an OTL amp made by Glenn and it is wonderful, so I am much looking forward to hearing this new creation.

I would think a Decware OTL amp would be wonderful with the Atticus.

I've heard some very positive impressions of the prototype so it sounds like he's not far off.

I'm sure that with a steady stream of Ori/Blackwood/Vibro orders, 200+ A&E orders, and the general crazy the daily grind must bring that the ZMF amp is probably taking a nice long nap on the back burner right now.

For a while, anyway.

Yes, I certainly agree with the opinion that the notion of needing balanced, or balanced inherently being superior is rubbish. If you need the extra power, fantastic, use balanced, but as has been suggested already, the need for that level of power if anything is diminishing not increasing. I would also suggest that nobody is hearing the reported noise artifacts from unbalanced amplification, nobody. Those differences are measureable, but nonetheless extremely tiny and factor in attempting to discriminate these differences while music is playing. Just an opinion of course. Until we see robust properly conducted experiments demonstrating our ability to differentiate a balanced from unbalanced signal, I say save your money and enjoy your current gear. I fully acknowledge this view is not universal. My apology if I re-start another OT debate, hopefully not.

Jeff Wells of Wells audio couldn't agree more

"I personally believe that there are real advantages to unbalanced over balanced designs. For starters, half the parts count means more money can be allocated for better parts quality," Wells says. "The dynamic range is also greater in an unbalanced design. It almost always sounds more effortless dynamically. Balanced designs have always sounded more ‘electronic' to me. Maybe because the signal is being manipulated by more parts."

For me personally, I have no dog in this debate. Having said that, I listened to the Audio-GD Master 9 on several occasions and I consistently prefer the sound from the se output vs the balanced. Like Jeff says, it sounds less electronic in se mode.

After I get my Hugo2 I might end up picking up a Blackwood for electronic music.

That I suspect would be a seriously sweet combination. I am loving my Z1R with electronica, well with everything actually. I'm sure Zach's designs are consistently stunning performers. I'm glad he has branched out into non-modded driver designs. Really allows you to hear what his tuning skills are all about.

Thanks, I've heard Glenn makes really nice sounding stuff.  What is the wait time on that one?

Zach,
What's current wait time on these phones? Very interested and probably will order when my liquid fire sells. Thanks

I have 6 - 12 weeks as listed on the site right now - but really it should be somewhere in between that. We are making good progress on orders.

So I have infected wisdom tooth and it's causing a lot of pain in my jaw right now and listening to headphones at all is kicking my butt. While o don't want to, I'm considering selling my whole setup including the eikons so if I need to have it taken out, I'll have the funds.
