Because I'm new on this forum, I would like to share my experience with those cans.
First, I would start with a big Hello. Nice forum, btw.

I did already a lot of reading about the X2's...gluegate, inktgate...etc
A topic with +750 pages...I'm not done yet.

About me: I used to make tube-amps, almost 50 years ago.
Now, I have a modest Stingray tube-amp with some nice Alon speakers.
I never enjoyed headphones in the same way when sitting in front of good speakers.
That changed not with a HD600, because there is almost no soundstage.

(So, here starts the story:....)
But it sure did with the X2's. They gave me goose-spots, something of a near speaker experience.

First pair sounded brilliant, but they were out of balance. (to the right)
After 1 week I decided to return them.
This was really anoying.

Then, my second pair arrived (still having the first pair)
Balance was perfect. This was my major concern, nevertheless they sounded weird, not focused.
I thought, maybe I should burn them in first. The first pair played 24/7 about 1 week.
In the mean while I bought the Aune X1s and let it burn in again for a week with the second pair X2's.
Next concern:
Comfort wise, there was not enouhg clamp on the earcups. The adjustable band had almost no tension.
When I saw a picture posted on this forum with a X2 on a HPstand, there was a real gap between the two bands.
When I toke 3 fingers or about 2 inches and let my HP rest on it, there was less then 1/2 inch!
Now I understand why my wife was pushing the earcups up, while listening.

So, now we are on the 3th pair. (still having the 2nd)
They arrived today, I was really exited.
They were in balance...excellent.
And YES, a got a (nice) wake-up call. They sounded like the first pair and are really open with good imaging.
The difference, when you compare the 2 pairs is just amazing.
On the looks of my daughter face when I let her listening the 2 pairs. It was not my imagination. Within seconds I saw a smile:wink:
Without any explanation, her choice was the 3th pair..obvious.

Extra note:
First pair were glued, but the pads came off real easy.
The second and the thirth pair were not glued.
I ordered all 3 pairs in the same store.

For now, I let de X2's burn in and mayby add some comments later.

Gr, Edmond
