New Inear Prophile-8

I have bought sd4 from kingsound last year and I found nothing to complain with them.

As for the new prophile 8 I have been keep asking kingsound and I am sure they really have not received the demo unit yet. So that is not their fault. I heard that the inear people will bring the demo unit to Hong Kong tomorrow and before that they really can't do anything. May be that staff should be informed and replied in a better manner.

Thank you for your information! I guess someone was having a bad day when I visited. Earlier today I went to KingSound again (This time I don't see that staff around) and asked for the Prophile8 demo, the staffs are friendly and helpful :) Finally get to listen to the Prophile 8!  The matt black finish looks fantastic! It is so well-made. I listened the Prophile-8 with my Sony WM1A as well as AK380 Black. Both players drive it well, sound is so defined and balanced (but not boring!). Bass has good weight and texture, very dark background, mid is engaging and high extend well. I would describe it as the enhanced version of the SD4. Even with the stock cable and default setting on it is already good enough for me, a big WELL DONE to Inear!

They couldn't hear that? :D

It is pretty obvious by ear, but every time I forgot which is which so I had to test to be sure, which is annoying.

Do you use the switches a lot? And now you listened to them quite a time: do you still like them?

I didn't use the Prophile 8 for a while, because the cable I used with them broke, and I didn't want to use the stock cable. Now I have a new cable and back with them. They are absolutely excellent. The key selling point is the soundstage, you are really surrounded but the music, with pinpoint placement and incredible detail...love it.

I have never liked the tunable function in iems. For the Prophile 8 it is well implemented, but so far I prefer to stick to neutral. Actually this morning I had the boosted treble on without noticing for whole album...

Sounds cool! Right now I´m pondering if to buy the Prophile 8 or the Andromedas. They seem to be pretty similar (as far as I could read on Head-Fi). You didn´t have the chance to compare them do you?

No I didn't. From what I read, the advantage of the Prophile are switches, and less sensitive, as Andromedas seem prone to hiss.

+1 on everything @Mimouille mentioned. Plus a few more differences in my book (just a rough comparison - I heard both, but not side by side):

Even from my SGS3 (3.45 ohms OI), the Andro sounds bassier and warmer than the P8. With bass boost switch on the P8, they'd be about even, but the Andro has more sub bass. Personally, I prefer the P8's bass amplitude, but the Andro's extension. Mids strike me as least different between them, though I think the P8 sounds just a tad more forward with female vocals. Treble is smoother and more refined on the P8, but the Andro has noticeably more sparkle (both with silicones). A hint of sibilance every now and then on the Andro, while the P8 remains well-behaved at all times, even on treble boost. Timbre is slightly more "metallic" on the Andro, which lends a nice brassy sheen to cymbals, but also makes it sound more typically "BA". Clarity and resolution are excellent on both and I'd say they're technically pretty much on par.

I'd have a hard time choosing a winner between these two. I'd probably pick the P8 for its overall more refined and classy sound, but would surely miss the Andro's low end extension and treble sparkle.

And they are AWESOME! No comparison to my StageDiver 3.. Heard almost 3 hours now and they are insane for iems... the sóund from mid to bass that is coming out of this Little Things is astonishing and exactly the bit more that i hoped for bý upgrading.... (i have heard the sd-4 one time but i don't liked them at all!!)

Oh and i have both Switches on off.

Very nice review, well written. I would have liked to see a picture of the whole package, like what you get when you open up your box that cost 1300€ :) Also maybe one more comparison with a well established iem, like andromeda or zeus.

Other than that, well done :beerchug:

Thanks for the feedback!
Since we reviewed the unit weeks ahead the official launch the package design wasn't yet available.
