I will be getting a Z1R, if indeed I do, which I am leaning toward at this point, or the XC. It is the cap, no way to keep them all, can't happen, at least one will have to go in a few years, maybe 2 even or the team puts way to much money into a few players. Always the way in the cap era.

Cool...I've been toying with the idea of picking up a pair too. But like you I'm torn, but between 3 closed pairs (XC, Z1R and Ether C Flow). But then I've got some great IEMs I use when isolation is really needed. Decisions...decisions...

They can easily keep them...look at the Blackhawks or Penguins. The issue becomes "everyone else"?

Sorry for keep shooting a running question to you.  How many people will get a chance to participate?  Thanks.
I'm not 100% sure. 8-10 is the number Jude and Warren suggested.

What made you reconsider your choice of the C Flows being your preferred pair for closed headphones? The sound of the new XC's interest me but the weight scares me off unless they reduced that too with the new revision.

Never really reconsidered anything...I really liked the Ether C and the Flows are that much more improved. The XC weight isn't an issue whatsoever for me. The weight distribution is quite good.

So, after its release in Indonesia around 2 weeks ago, I just gather so many impression from most listener about Z1R. Dare I say, I jump to this conclusion: (Roughly and with salt of course)

For people who always being criticize about everything, always looking for flaws, hate imperfection, and want any headphones in this world to have tonal or character exactly as what they want:
- Most of them dislike Z1R, though few of them still appreciate Z1R due its close back design, but sound "open" enough to reassemble open back headphone ambience

For people who always looking headphone as tools to help them enjoy music, people who love the word "musicality", people who listen from hdtracks to spotify, people who can accept that most flagship headphone always have their own unique and speciality:
- Most of them really glad Sony comes with Z1R, sweet spot for high end close back for today's market, analytic enough, clean enough, while still maintain very good musicality, and come with good isolation.

Anyway, for Z1R owners out there, enjoy that japanese great stuff

That's exactly how it is sounding to me. Price and analytic enough, detailed and resolving, super airy, comfy, well isolated and overall having a sense of fun that not many cans provide - and I include the perfectly dosed precise bass as one of the reasons.

Conclusion from French to English via Google translate.

CONCLUSION 5/5
The Sony Z1R is a great success. Its design is almost flawless and sound performance is excellent. Membranes with a little more responsive in the low, one would really approached the closed perfect helmet. Recommended for deep, soft bass fans, but also very big wallet.

I wonder what soft bass means to this reviewer? Soft is not something that sounds positive, but it might be depending on what is meant by it. Anybody here read French well enough to get a feel for what the author meant by soft bass? Curious.
