Hey all, thanks for reading my post!  I recently broke free of ~$100 headphones and discovered how amazing high end headphones are with the purchase of Sennheiser HD600s.  Listening to music on these things is like a drug, I love it!

But the only problem I have with the HD600s is that, to my ears, the bass and sub-bass is muted and weak.  I was thinking of getting the Sennheiser HD8 DJs since I love my HD600s so much but also have read many threads talking about other bass-heavy headsets.  I really don't mind a bass-forward presentation in much of the music I listen to so long as the mids are as clean as the 600s provide.

What headphones would you recommend to someone who loves the sound of HD600s but wants quite a bit more bass/sub-bass response and doesn't mind paying for quality?

The obvious choice is the HD650.There are others too, depends on your amp and budget.

The HD600, with new earpads and some EQ fine tuning. Try the hybrid or leather angled Brainwavz HM5 earpads (the hybrid isn't on Amazon but available direct from Brainwavz' website; other variants are on Amazon though). Just note that this will necessitate gutting the HD600 earpads - you remove the foam and padding, then mount the HM5 pads on the plastic mounting ring, then trimming the excess faux leather that blocks the mounting clips. If you got the HD600 new, might as well post an LF for worn out HD6x0/580x pads and gut those (heck some members might give them for free, you just reimburse them for shipping). I have the velour angled earpads and it improves the soundstage focus (cymbals moved away from my head/ears) as well as the low bass.

As for EQ it will depend on what app you're using of course, but in my case I use NeutronMusicPlayer (which has its own software DSP) and Spotify (which uses the Note3's universal EQ), although both send sound out via USB OTG to my DAC-HPamp. With Spotify/Galaxy audio I just do a +3dB on 30hz and +1dB at 65hz; with Neutron's parametric EQ I have a +4dB low shelf at 35hz (with a wider Q that has a gradual boost up to roughly 70hz).

With these settings and hardware (Note3 on a sync dock, generic OTG and USB cables, Pangea HP101 DAC-HPamp), the bass doesn't move far forward unlike with just as much effective boost with the stock earpads. The bass drum will have that kick to it but it won't sound like it's coming from in front of the vocals. Best of all that's $25 for the earpads and around $5 for Neutron.

I love the ideas!  But I think would rather buy a nice set that is bass-forward that I could alternate in with my HD600s depending on the genre of music I'm listening to.  Any more ideas?

I already gave you the answer...HD650...its a 600 with more bass.what more do you want?

You can try the Fidelios X1 or X2, both have more bass than HD600/HD650.
