The micro-USB cable is from eBay and the adaptor from a local shop. Though I have a micro-USB to USB-C cable (also from eBay) of the same length on the way.

Link for the one you ordered on eBay? Thanks in advance.

Jealous!
The Hugo is on my list, just need an extra 2K. How are you liking the pairing, would you consider it the same sound as other sources hooked to it?

I only use M1 as source for convenience. I used different sources like Samsung Galaxy S4 and AK100/120 via optical. To be honest regardless of the source they all sound the same to me if I do the AB test blind. Or at least it's very difficult to perceive any difference.

M1 is small enough that I can stick it on the top side of Hugo while anything else had to be stacked from the backside which I find very awkward.

They're supposed to be the same anyway.

I am thinking I might give the M1 a try.  Currently I am using the iPhone with Mojo, but from reading posts here, this may be a nice alternative.

I see that it is unavailable through Amazon (US)...did it sell out?

I am looking for a place to learn about it; approximately how many ALAC songs it holds, mp3., how it connects to Mojo, etc, and where to buy in US.    Suggestions?  thanks.

  • It was only formally released 2 or 3 weeks ago, and it was said that it could take 2 or 3 weeks for supplies to reach some distributors in some countries. I think that there was also no confirmed US distributor, but shanling were in talks with one or two (but search this thread to confirm).
  • There are a few links in this thread, to dealers advertising the M1 in China, France, Portugal, UK I think, but some of them quote a two week delay, but others have the M available now.
  • It can take a 200Gb SD card, and can store a maximum of 8000 tracks, so you need to do some simple maths to judge if this will be enough for the music file sizes that you normally use.
  • It connects to mojo and hugo via usb, but beware the initial batch will not. They need a promised firmware update, but there are several beta testers on this thread, who state that the connection works well. I suggest that by the time you order a M1, they will probably be fitted with the full firmware update, so no need to rush.
  • because the M1 is so new, there are few people who have owned it long enough to publish a worthwhile review, so this thread probably contains the best knowledge base at the moment, because it does contain a few posts describing users experiences

Sorry I can't give more details, but this should give you a 'starter for 10'. I have to go to bed now, so hopefully some others can also provide additional info.
