MrSpeakers ETHER Flow and ETHER C Flow -- Inspired by Electrostatic Headphones

I mean external desktop amp, was wondering if the filter would still work when using the hugo2 as DAP.

Oh, I'm assuming that Hugo 2 output stage is architectured similar to Hugo (Mojo and Dave too), which means that it doesn't have an explicit amplification stage. Rob Watts has explained someplace that it has only one analog output stage which is part of the DAC, which is partly the secret sauce behind their performance. So regardless of the output mode, you get the same signal, meaning the filters will be applied. Line out is simply output signal level set to 3V.

Been listening to my C Flow this whole week paired with my V280, and all I can say is that I am blown away by this pairing. These are the most versatile pair of headphones I've had as they sound great on any genre I throw at them.

Any update on the upgrade path besides the recent 'things are moving quicker now'? I registered very early on the first day the registration went live. Still no email.....

Things are burning in nice on the upgrade. I found my FIIO X3II so I can burn them in at work now. But the sound stage seems wider than before. But the angled pads are lovely. 16 hours in just x10 to go... I got lucky in the batch via Electromods Mark Dolbear

Received my upgrade email on 01/03.  Got them boxed up and sent off the next day.  Received by MrSpeakers  Friday afternoon 01/06.  If you did not get an email by now I would guess(without knowledge or justification) that you would be in the next batch hopefully.  I have not heard how long the wait might be but the second batch was mostly overseas owners I believe and they're experience might not necessarily represent our wait.

Yeah, figured CES might put a monkey wrench in things. Was hoping I was in the first batch considering I registered so early on the first day. Oh well, what's another little bit. I'm more hoping my info was correct, lol.

Now that my WM1A has been modified to become a non-capped unit with High Gain, my goal in 2017 is to get the Ether C Flow. Gonna try my hardest to not have to sell my iem to get it.

If anyone knows of a store, brick and mortar or online in Europe that has one, could you PM me or post? I'll be reading this full thread from start to finish (joined in the last 20pages). I would consider travelling to any neighbouring countries to get it physically (like London, Paris, etc...)  Hopefully someone might bring one for audition at the UK meet.
Perhaps I'll get it when I meet you Dan again during CanJam London for the 3rd event haha

The C Flow's been on my mind even more since I tried it on thanks to Levi. I admit I'm a complete newbie in regards to cans, but that one tickes all my boxes: lightweight, closed, bright and airy, balanced sig with good extension on both ends (I abhor narrow boomy dark sigs). On top it's the most aesthetically pleasing can out there for me so far

How hard was the hack on the 1A?

The C flow's high is very smooth and pleasing, but I wouldn't necessarily describe it as bright IMHO. Definitely agree that it sounds open, balanced, and that bass is perfect for me. Not too much, impactful and textured. You will definitely enjoy it :)

How hard was the hack on the 1A?

The developer made it so easy with that downloadable software tool, and thanks to the other users' explanations, it only took 1 simple command line and that's it. Reset all settings on device and voila!
I only had to type this in the command prompt/DOS:
Code:
 scsitool-nwz-v4.exe G: dest_tool set E2 off

It changed my CEW2 EU Volume Capped no High Gain unit available into the E2 region (Asia/Australia/NZ/Tourist non capped with High Gain available

That table listing the destination codes was great to decide which to pick

Looking forward to it. IIRC, some users mentionned saying the Flow made it a bit brighter, so that's why I said that. Bright never bothers me, I like it sparkly

I have the C flow and used to own the standard C. To my ears, the standard C is definitely brighter than the flow C. The highs are more pronounced compared to the rest of the frequencies, and they are not as smooth as the C flow. I respect other people's impressions and I just want to throw mine in, in case you were expecting a brighter presentation.
The open flow is brighter than the C flow, if that's your cup of tea. Cheers :)
