Looking for some decent IEMs around 100$ (solved)
Jul 8, 2016 at 9:53 PM Post #46 of 60
to some degree yes, but it all depends on my source. I prefer a neutral sound with a slight boost to the bass, but not as much as most coloured headphones give you. To be perfectly honest, I would really prefer another dampened filter that is somewhere in between the purple and gold, but both of them produce a plesant sound to me at this stage. Who knows though, I might end up completly changing my mind at one point when I change my source or I simply discovers a song that just sounds so freaking awesome with overwhelming bass (it happens, altohugh not to often nowadays for me).

Yeah i hear you, i wouldn't expect these to be an end-game for you but for the price i think they're really special.
Well, you still have some time to decide if you're gonna keep them

Oh, I'm keeping them thats for sure. I'm just not sure about what I think of the sound other than the fact that I like it. What I really need is a decent dac/amp for my phone... or you know, equalizers and stuff

I must confess i bought a dap because of them lol

It's a dangerous "hobby", every new improvement we buy makes the rest of the equipment look outdated and sub-par. I should have never started this, there was a time when I was content with just using my Koss Porta Pros while listening to my 50$ MP3 player but that time is long past. I kid ofcourse, but sometimes I look with envy on those that doesnt "know better" just thinking of all the time and money I could have saved.

Screw it, next thing I'm getting is the HRT microstreamer or the Trinity Audio Bluetooth adapter.

BTW, did you get a pack of those SpinFit ear tips with you order as well? It was placed loosely in the package, so I'm kind of curious if it was just an oversight or if they add them to all purchases.

Trinity recently partnered up with Spinfit, so they're included in all models now.
It wasn't like that when i bought them, unfortunately. But i got to try them when i got the sabres

Lol i hear you on the "dangerous hobby". I certainly look back when my sennheiser cx300 were the best thing in the world
tongue.gif
but i'm also happy i discovered some hidden things in music and audio in general. It's a different flavor, just more expensive.

Damn you got yourself a wishlist x) i'm saving up for some serious audio gear too. I don't think i need an amp for now. My FiiO X1 is perfect for now.
But still i'll either get a new dap or some new hybrid iems with a negative profile and hi-res. But that's for a distant future, right now i'm happy and satisfied (rare words on head-fi)

I actually had the HRT on loan earlier this year, but I decided to give it back since I didn't have the budget at the time and my Windows phone didn't support USB OTG (and I already have better sources if I'm stationary).

Is that a specific shop or just as a general term? Just curious since we have at least 4 independent audio gear shops in my town with another two larger chains having 2 shops each in town. This is a city with about 270k inhabitants mind you
tongue.gif
There is also sure to be more that I forgot about.

Also I figured out a soution to my "problem" of the fiters just barely not covering the sound that I wanted from my filters. Surprisingly enough the SpinFit tips actually made the muffled purple filters a perfect fit for my sound preferences. I know I'm far from the first one to figure this out, but wow do these things make a diference.

Just a general term. I'm talking about those shops that are completely dedicated to audio and they have tons of iems ready to try as well as headphones. Like pictured on this thread.
Glad you liked the spinfits

i actually use them with shallow fit, so they stick out a little. Deep insertion is not really my thing. I tried the biflanges as well but it's too much. I can get a really good seal with shallow fit.

Now thats an audio gear store. The ones here are mostly focused on portable audio when it comes to headphones, that and hifi/surround setups. We also have nothng even close to that size. Kind of wish I lived in Japan just for that, but I guess my wallet is far happier here having less temptations

Yeah the spinfits give great sound, but they are less comfortable to wear than the other tips that came with the deltas. Not surprisingly the foam tips are by far the most comfortable ones, but I can live with the spinfits as long as they give me the sound I want

Sure made a hell of a difference in the sound, so I'm back to muffled gold filters now

 what's next?

a new cable? Nah I'm probably not going to buy all that much more for a while. I already have some Chinese IEMs on the way that I figured I would test, so I really think I have enough atm
tongue.gif

But who knows, I might end up with way more stuff than I'm planning for.

Edit: oh I totaly forgot, I'm making a headphone stand atm so I'm going to see if I can make one for IEMs as well.

I will, it's mostly just recommended ones from the Chinese IEM thread

I have even made another list of IEMs that I plan to order at one point.
