Hello all!,

So Ive had my Sony MDR XB700's for about.... id say 3 or 4 years? Not too sure exactly how long but up in that range. These babys are still kicking and I absolutely love them. Using some equalization I can clear up the poor upper parts of a song and its mids are solid imo with great bass that granted can be a bit muddy at times but if you EQ it right it seems to be clean as long as you dont overdo it.

But heres my problem, these things have been through HELL with me. With this model being discontinued and a new pair on amazon being 750 bucks.... well... I know they wont last forever, and I may consider retiring them eventually and their model. I own a pair of ATH-M50x's as backup headphones but I find their pressure from their band WAAAAAY to strong for extended use and do make a good travel or backup pair since the XB700s are.... not portable what so ever.

With the problem of my poor baby's impending doom looming before me. I ask you head fi

Does anyone know a pair of headphones with a similar sound signature if not a better one?

What i look for in headphones is 2 key things:

Solid bass that will make you feel it without compromising the mids and highs too much

Sounds Stage (THIS IS A MUST)

What surprises me about the XB700's is their surprisingly good sound stage, this allows me to double them as gaming headphones and is actually accurate enough for me to tell where enemies are in FPS games. Plus i hate, hate, HATE it when songs sound flat and boring, where a sound stage almost give it a "3D" feel for my ears to enjoy. (if that sounds weird I'm sorry, as I'm not a full blown audiophile by any means.

Any other things like portability, Detachable cables, extra accessories (e.g. carry bags, included amps, etc), style, and other things of the nature are bonus points.

I heard there is a pair of Shure headphones with a similar sound signature, but i dont remember the model number that my friend mentioned.

In terms of price range I probably wont get these soon at all but 400 is the ceiling and around 200 is optimal/preffered.

So head fi, care to help me out?
