Which music player would offer me the best in terms of sound clarity and refinement. My price range is about 400-650 CAD. I currently use the RHA T20's and am willing to potentially upgrade these.

I went for the A&K Jr, since clarity is a priority. It has the typical hard-edged A&K sound which some can find a tad analytical but it would be a good match for the T20.

The X5ii is a bit smoother, although it's still quite clear in terms of sound.

If you can up your budget a QP1R is a great sounding DAP.

They are overpriced and there customer support is non-existent. Some AK lovers might respond to say they have no issues but a large majority of people are selling there DAPs to get something way better for way less.

+1

An instance where price does not indicate performance.

I love my Cowon honestly, but most people have never used one. I've never needed support so I guess on one hand that's great but on the other hand I'm not sure how their support is lol

I second this suggestion. It doesn't have the bells and whistles that some of the other players include. But the sound quality trounces that of players at 3 times the cost.

I paid only 600 aud for my ak jr , right now the old dx 50 is at 500 , for 600 i got fantastic sound a well implemented digital line out switch - only one jack and it functions as a great dap , no issues here +1 for ak jr money well spent , my old dx 50 actually started to catch fire while on charge
