IBasso Audio IT03
Apr 19, 2017 at 11:25 AM Post #2,416 of 3,344
Hello all. I'm about to pull the trigger and purchase one of these babies. (After weeks of research, these are the only and the best options that I can purchase where I live, in terms of sound signature.) My only concern is fit though. Can anyone compare these with Westone Um3x RC and/or UE Triple-Fi 10 in terms of fit and comfort? Especially for listening non-stop for 2-hour commutes? These are the only ones I've used so far, so a direct comparison would mean so much. Thanks in advance.

(And sadly, no, I can't give them a try before buying.)

And Paul, should I suffer through the depression of using the useless earphones that came with my phone and wait for the IT04? In terms of pricing and comfort, what are we looking at? :)

I dont know if this is the right place for this, but I have a little Problem:
I just bought the IT03 to test them out, but the sellers policies dont allow to return them (hygiene.. sadly..).

Any ideas how I can get the most of my money back?
I dont know if they sell well on ebay, any else place or solution?

If you bought them why not use them? I have a number of IEM's including custom and the IT03 are extremely good sounding but sound best to me after a number of hours so the dynamic driver settles in.

You can post it on the classifieds of this forum. Though i would recommend allowing the IT03s to burn in. The sound changed a bit since when i first got them. Took me a while to like them too. VERY tip dependant.

So true.  Here are my initial, very disappointed reactions to the IT03:

and here is my completely different reaction once I changed tips:

I know what you mean. I did a complete 180. Went from hating this iem to LOVING it. I have a bad review on here somewhere too before i found tips that did it for me (smallest wide bore short cap tip)

BTW
I have a lot of tips from all my iems ive bought and THIS is the smallest and BEST tip. I lost one once and switched to Spiral dots, it sounded pretty similar.. but the comfort wasnt the same. Great job iBasso on your tips!..and everything else you do. lol

I love my IT03s, but recently the left side became softer than usual and today, no sound at all. Hoping for new stock to come in to do exchange as still under warranty :pensive:

I am very sorry to read this. Have you switched the cable or sides to make sure it isn't the cable connection?

Absolutely agree on the burn in. Just give them a few weeks and they will shine. I have a feeling the resale value will stay relatively high too.

For me not just the bass but the treble also sounds much better now. Call it brain burn in if you want but I love them much more now.

The fit comfort for me was difficult the first 2 weeks. Seal was easy from the start but my ears would start hurting after more than an hour. Now I can go for hours no problem. I even use the stock clear tips. The fit and seal seem to work best with them for me.

My only two complaints are:
  1. The cable's mmcx plugs are long and straight instead of angled and stick away from my ears a little. The UE900 cable works much better with these for me, at least for comfort. I prefer the sound, heft and 3.5mm plug of the stock iBasso cable but the plugs make me revert back to the ue900 one.
  2. I can't lay on the side of my head with them (which is probably something you shouldn't be doing with an expensive IEM anyways).

I sympathize. I am at the first stage with mine.

Not sure if it works like this, but it seems as though the driver which delivers the top end has somehow become disconnected on the left side. All of the highs are now on the right, and the left seems duller/quieter as a result.

Thanks Paul, Not asked for an exchange yet. It's been a fairly recent development. At the time I saw ArrancarV's post, I was in the process of cross-checking with my other IEMs (which seem fine) and making sure I had not gotten any impacted wax in my left ear (seems not) and generally scratching my head about it. But then I read ArrancarV's post which seems to be a kind of 'confirmation' of my issue. Will contact the seller shortly.
