IBasso Audio IT03

Try the iBasso CB12 balanced cable.  I find it a bit airier and just the right amount of brightness/clarity for my taste.  My ALO/Campfire Litz cable sounds a bit dark in comparison, though not really dark.
At the moment I do not have a source with the balance out. Could you suggest a budget dap that has it?Also would the ALO/Campfire Litz be an upgrade to the stock cable?

Best option for a budget DAP with balance out is the AUNE M1s.  Though you have to check the thread and some available impressions.  What I can guarantee is just that it synergize well with the IT03 both SE and balanced.  SQ is transparent for me so I can enjoy whatever I throw at it.  There's a review available already.  You should check it out.

About the cables, the ALO/Campfire Litz is an upgrade in aesthetics but I can't hear much of a difference regarding the sonics.

Thanks, I'm going to read up the reviews for the AUNE M1s.  At the moment I'm using the Oppo HA-2SE and a iphone 6+ to drive JH Audio Angie's.

Another good thing about the IT03 is its adaptability.  I have tested it with a decent number of sources and I have found only one that didn't sound good enough, my smartphone, which I guess lacks in power.  The rest, the IT03 delivered excellent sound and expressed the source's signature well enough.  With your DAC/amp, I can only imagine that it will sound good since it will be powered well.

just bought these a moment ago. Cannot wait for them to arrive! Thanks to everyone for sharing all their thoughts and impressions in this thread.

(As a side-note, I also just bought the LZ A4, because apparently I cannot be decisive. Looking forward to comparing them both out of the m9xx)

Congrats!  Waiting for the comparison.  TIA!  ^__^

You can also check @peter123's LZ A4 review.  I think he did a brief comparison there vs IT03, if I remember correctly.

I'm sure it will sound pretty good.  The IT03 is replacing my GR07 BE's, and from what I've read is a step up.  They will be my everyday iem.  My Angie's are just not suited for portability.

Can you lay on the side of your head without the sound becoming muted...I love my 846s, but they always become muted when laying on my ear

Well, I don't think that anyone could answer this for sure since it ultimately comes down to your individual ear anatomy. As it seems, with your ears, either the position of the in-ears or the ear canal itself is changed, so that the sound becomes blocked.

It might be that you wouldn't face this problem with the IT03 because it has got the wider nozzles than the SE846, but nobody can predict this.

I suggest you dig a small hole in your pillow or sleep in an zero-gravity chamber. I do the latter and find it works well
