I've been lurking a lot and finally registered here since I can't seem to find the answer to my question(probably a stupid one).
I've been reading a lot about balanced cable and I am wondering IF i can use it directly to an iphone.( dont laugh, don't judge, newbie here

)

I specifically use iphone 5s since it's an "all-in-one" phone/music player with a good sound quality, and most importantly it's size. I don't want to use separate DAP or dac/amp since i don't want to carry too much.

It has flac files in it, with sony mdr 100aap, and occasionally marshall monitors. (if these info does any help)music genres are from jazz to heavy metal with occasional classical/opera

Thank you so much in advance

cheers

Balanced audio is not accomplished through the cable or the headphone. It begins with the DAC and Amp, then you need balanced cables to keep the negative channels separate all the way to the headphone drivers.

As it is right now, there are no smartphones that do balanced audio, and very few DAPs.

A cable provides probably the least improvments in terms of sound, i would recommend new inears/headphones if u are looking to improve ur sound.
For the main qn on cable, strictly speaking u can't 'directly' use balanced cables with ur phone due to the difference with the jack. U can however use it with an adapter and is similar to how u use a usb and lightning cable to connect ur phone. Not sure if that analogy helps.
I would recommend getting relisten app. They are updating the app to play flac files. Which is great since u already have the files.
Look pass the price and demo it. Im sure u will be happy with what u hear, even better as u prefer only ur iphone without ext dap.
Cheers~
