Sorry in advance if this isn't where I should be posting this. I have a difficult time using either the Mobil or desktop version of this site however this is the only site I trust for answers.

Soo here goes. A few months back i got the Sennheiser Cable Adapter Female 1/4" 6.3mm to Male 1/8" 3.5mm Plug bundled with my brand new pair of Sennheiser HD700's. This was a must for me considering I use these with my also brand new Fiio X5 2nd Gen. My problem is after only 2 months of mild wear the cable /adapter is already showing the Cursed sign of half the headphones cutting out until played around with. It's still early so I could probably push another month out of em before they get to that point of fighting to get the audio 100% more then enjoying a single song. Seems I'm always Cursed with cheap 3.5mm connections.

I have to say I'm surprised cause I've never had hardware issue's with anything Sennheiser. But here I am. Since I'm new to this needing a cable / adapter thing I'm clueless as to what brand I should be looking into for a replacement. I don't mind paying a premium as long as i get more then a few month's usage out of em. Any & all idea's or suggestions is greatly appreciated. You all rock!!

Do you have a second cable to check to see if it's the cable itself, or a problem with the headphone? Either way, I'd check to see if the headphone is returnable, as if it's brand new as you say, you should be able to return it to the retailer and exchange it for another working one.

It's definitely related to the adapter. It was a peice of junk. I took the chance on ordering a replacement cable from Amazon that doesn't need an adapter to 3.5 and so far so good. I've compared the 2 with the same songs and have heard no difference in quality soo.. Yeah I still miss the factory cable. Perhaps I'll order another sennheiser adapter in the future but for now the forty dollor (New Fantasia) cable is working great.
