Campfire Audio - Introducing 2 new models Hello Andromeda and Nova

Wow, the andros sound pretty good with the galaxy s7 exynos variant. I've seen some impressions that the Exynos variants do sound better compared to the snapdragon variants which is pretty unfortunate for people in US and China, so your impression may vary. One thing I like is that the UHQ upscale function brings the vocals and treble much more forward than normal mode as well as giving it more body. The sound is not quite up there compared to my gov2+, but there is no hiss at all. None. The fact that there is no constant hiss makes everything a different experience. It's just a pleasure of listening to even at low volume. With that being said, I'm very looking forward to using IEMatch with gov2+.

I share this impression, although I have the S7 Edge Exynos. It performs quite well with the Andromeda. Not fantastic, but very good.

I'm not using the upscale tho. And can't say I have the same experience with hiss. There is a very faint hiss with mine. It's low and hard to detect however, but I can hear it in some tracks that start with flat silence (or while playing a totally flat silent FLAC that I use to check for hiss).

I'm not sure if this is due to ears or differences in units of the phone. In any case it's not a bit issue as the hiss is almost inaudible. My laptop hisses like a snake tho.

I'm probably just not noticing the faint hiss with my ears because there is way too much hiss with my gov2+ and I was surprised to hear a silent background with a phone lol You should definitely check out the UHQ upscaler, makes a bit of a difference. Sounds like driving from my laptop without the uhq upscaler enabled.

Sometimes it is just the music mastering.

Means the file hiss. But when not playing any songs it's flat silent.

Indeed, but I made a 1 minute silent file with WavePad and use it when I want to check out if sources hiss.

If anyone wants it, I have it here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/1hswuvfg81hxu7b/silence%20for%20hiss%20detection.flac?dl=0
(pick the download option or Dropbox will just give you an embedded player)

Don't worry about piracy. I'm the author of this piece of art and call it "One minute of silence". To be honest, I think it's a really nice track for people who enjoy short moments of silence. Push that volume to 100% and knock yourselves out enjoying that total quietness... or that annoying hiss, depending on the source.

Don't forget to turn the gain all the way down after you listen to it and before playing the next track, or it's going to be... hm, let's call it memorable.

Someone's gonna complain to you about a ruptured eardrum soon after reading only half of your directions huh?

Which is better at these categories?  The Lyra II or the Andromeda?:

Sound quality?
Background detail?
Bass?
Mids?
Highs?
Soundstage?

Best value at its price point?

The Andromeda is better than lyra II in every aspect but the difference is not that huge. I even like the lyra II compared to the vega using my zx2. Price to performance, I think Jupiter with its current price is better in the CA lineup.

Even at $499 for the Lyra II?

That Lyra 2 price is on massdrop. I've always found their shipping to be really slow (considering what their business model is it does make sense) but I'm not that patient.

I've been contemplating for the last couple days whether to purchase the Jupiter or not and today the Andromeda comes up in the B stock sales. There are some reviews stating that it is similar to a UERM with more bass so I decided to purchase it. If this doesn't work out I can probably sell for minimal loss if they continue to be out of stock. I'll be pairing these with an opus#1 so looking forward to the combination. I recently got back into the hobby so hopefully these will do. I wanted customs but it's really difficult setting up an appointment with an audiologist so will try universals first.

Yeah im debating picking up the Lyra II from Massdrop for that price. Just wonder how it would pair with an iPhone. Also kind of worried cause I want to get the iPhone 8 when it comes out with no headphone output, don't really want to dongle either. Decisions decision

No problem. If enough people like my art I might consider putting out a second EP. Thinking of calling it "Two minutes of silence" and making it about twice as long.
But going to wait a bit first to see how many customers complain about hiss with their source equipment.. or erhm, deafness due to, accidental testing with the wrong track. :D

You could always not do the direct-from-phone dongle and get like a Noble BTS or something similar. You'd be wired, yet wireless.
