Just wanted to check-in after some time.

So, yesterday I enjoyed my Noble K10 for a few hours - today the Shozy Zero (pre-production model) and I can't stop listening. And again - the Shozy is so much fun - a beautiful sound signature that leaves not much to long for.

I can vouch for these setups:
ifi iDSD Nano

Perfect pairing - soundstage is wide, musical and impactful sound.

Cavalli Audio Liquid Carbon:

I must admit that I enjoy the Zero a bit more with the iDSD Nano - this can be a very affordable end-all setup. Shocking.

I have a second pair of Zeros coming in from Massdrop - they should arrive today - will check if they sound similar and also see if burn in has nay effect so far.

Cheers!

Ok guys.

I have just received my Shozy Zeros from massdrop.

I had the pre-production units and love them to bits. But I was often of a different opinion than others about the sound signature. Well. Take a look at the size difference between these two:

small - pre-production unit < large - massdrop version (click for larger images)

DUH!! Did I miss something? this is a huge difference in size. Let me listen now and see how they differ in sound....

EDIT:
Phew - sound wise they are not that different. But the "new" Zero's out of the box have a slightly darker presentation, treble is more rolled off, the bass impact is a bit more emphasized but only a tad, not by much. Yep - they are bassier - the new ones....

No chin slider on pre- production model and chin slider on the current one.

Doing some A/B-ing. All good, audibly more bass and sub bass on the current ones. Bit more rolled off treble (but very very subtle) - can't say which sound signature I like more.

But all these difference could potentially also be the total lack of burn in on the new ones. Will monitor this.

The overall sound is very similar with the slight differences in the bass response. Totally understand why some reviewers called them bassy (and I thought - no they are rather balanced) ;-)

Getting mine tomorrow from Massdrop. Both DP-X1 and the Mojo are charged and ready :) Can't wait to compare the with my Flare R2Pro.

having heard both, r2pro is in a different league for details retrieval.

I owned two zero a month ago, both already have shozy & zero logo without chin slider. One is bassier and more foward vocal, one sounds wider with less bass. I ended to sold bassier one.

Well that's disappointing. The thread title states that it can take on the $500 boys and R2PRO is one of those. They will make a great gift though...

try that again on a higher end setup :-p

Iv tried with My Schiit Stack, E10K, Phone, Laptop. Doesnt matter. there is ZERO bass. Im am not a bass head but having no bass is not appealing. I even tried some spiral pads and it made no difference.

the zero is definitely not on the bass light side, it's not bassy but still pumps out quite a bit more bass and subbass compared to many other iems. May be the seal/ insertion depth that cause the bass to leak... while we are sure it is very unlikely to be a production problem, there is very little unit variations before burn in

personally not suggested to use spinfit in this situation...

additional thoughts: the iem is ideal for outdoor use but not really under very heavy traffic/ noise, it may sounds slightly basslight in a noisy market
