Shozy Zero IEMs

Agreed. It could be some burn in, but I don't see it settling this much. Not that I mind, I love the sound of them, but considering my inventory and what I prefer, that brings them to basshead near levels at the least. To my ears, they have more bass than my rha T10. They also sound a little better too I think. Need more time with them.

Taken from my article, here are some measurements. They`re not accurate, but will be sufficient for comparison. It`s animated btw. You can see how one of my sets has far more sub-bass which is pretty accurate to my subjective listening tests, the rest of the sound is quite similar. Ignore the green, that`s just background noise.

According to your graph it looks like 5/6db difference. That's a significant difference.

Switching between both sets, it sounds like a big difference. I have to use -4/6 bass on my e17k to control the sub-bass.

Probably depends on which tree was sourced for each batch. The older the tree, the more sub bass it has. You can open up your Zero's and count the rings in the wood to check the age.

Ones could also open up their metal cans and bring the metal parts to lab and trace where is the origin of the metal,
the radioactivity and minerals content may change the sound behaviour

I have a pre-production pair. They're warm / bass-forward and also suffer from the driver flex and vacuum issues you mention, Tamal. The sound variations between pairs makes me wonder if the pair I gave sound as intended or are bassier...

My retail version pair of Zero also suffer driver flex, I think using foam tips might help.

Both of my units have driver flex and both are pretty identical in build. The newer set is slightly better finished, the metal and wood housings are mated more precisely and the wood is more consistent, especially on the jack and y-split.

I'm telling you guys, product variation between the same model earphone is a completely reasonable explanation and not the 'on purpose' type of variation.

Could be from the enclosure or driver.

I've heard differences between pairs of:

  1. Westone 4
  2. Ostry KC06
  3. Brainwavs B2
  4. Altone 200

And we know quite well the Carbo Tenore was all over the shop in this regard.

Its hard to imagine the differences but its where I place my money.

It happens. I'm happy because fortunately I love the sound d of the Zero I received.

Those earphones mentioned I had at home, at the same time (both pairs), it wasn't just some long term memory judgement. It even made me question once when ordering  'gee I hope I get a good pair'. In the case of Westone 4 the pair I owned sounded more veiled than the pair I had on loan. So much so I sold them and bought the loaner pair which took some haggling.

Anyway, my Zero sound awesome, truth be told.
