I have come to realize that I am not really sure which schiit stack to really get, I am not sure if the extra compatibility is worth the extra money.

Ik the main difference of the magni 2 Uber is it can hookup to a preamp

But with the modi 2 Uber, it has all the extra inputs.

Would it be worth it to pay a little more for the added compatibility?

I'd guess it would depend on what gear you're going to be using with the Magni 2/Modi 2 stack. If you aren't going to use the extra inputs and whatnot, I'd wager it isn't worth it to get the Uber versions. If purchasing for myself, I'd go Uber, but that's because I would want the option to use the extra inputs in the future if I choose to. Obviously, your experiences and expectations are different than mine, so it's really your call.

If you have the money can't go wrong with the Uber stack.

Modi 2 Uber has an external power supply, while Modi 2 is USB powered.
According to Schiit, Modi 2 Uber also has a slight improvement in the analog stage.

Magni 2 Uber is also a bit more sophisticated, has a larger power supply and more power.

M&M Uber have brushed aluminium chassis like their bigger brothers.

It does not "hookup to a preamp," it is the preamp.

That depends on what you need. Are you planning on getting speakers? Does your computer have SPDIF? If it does, that works without added drivers, unlike how USB can sometimes have issues.

i do have speakers, but it is a 2.1 setup that connects straight to a 3.5mm out

I meant getting into serious speakers. Like studio monitors which have separate gain controls on each cabinet, since normally they're used with a studio console, but at home they'd need a preamp, which can be built into something else, like into the headphone amp.
