Hi everyone,

after some time and reading many different posts and reviews I decided to buy new headphones.

Even If I heard that you don't need an amp for those headphones I read few reviews which recommended it.

Here is my question, I found fiio an interesting company but I have a tough choice deciding which of their portable amps will work well with those headphones.

Couple of things about me.

I will be using them:
- on firm's laptop on some high-quality streaming like Tidal
- or with 320kb/s music on iphone 4

The music is a mix* of:
- classic 45%
- jazz 25%
- rap 20%
- techno 10%

* funny mix I guess.

Thanks in advance for any help,

Matt

If your headphones are loud enough at 50-60% volume, you're okay.

If not, you can go for a Fiio amp that can increase your volume adequately. The thing is, portable amps make portability quite a hassle. So try to stick to your iPhone.

For home use you can use a Fiio E10k or something of the sort.

And most Fiio Amps should do the job. Perhaps except the cheapest one. And then you don't need ones with DACs. So their mid tier stuff should have enough power for you.

While it's true the M2 sounds better on an amp, I never use it that way. It sounds really good straight off your mobile device.

I would recommend trying the M2 straight, first. And then, if you really feel the need, get an amp.

You might just save yourself some money.
