Shanling M5 will be released on 25th March,2016. Hope you will love it .
Many Thanks!

On 2016.3.23

-----------------------------------------------------
Important notice: Output impedance of M5 is 0.18 ohm

Previously we marked the headphone output impedance of M5 6.2 ohm, which is inaccurate-we use our regular testing standard from the full-size units, which is with a different load.
But we recently found out other brands are using a total different standard of testing-a common standard for DAPs. This is why we are now with a new value and need to revise our specification.

The same to M2 and M3, their output impedance is not as high as the number we provided before.

Is it just me that it looks exactly like M2, just bigger? Like the design nevertheless.

Price is okay if sound, power, output (looking at you, Sony), two SD card slots, the UI and functions and the battery fulfills.

Hope this can compete the likes of the Lotoo Paw 5000 and the Fiio X7, regardless of different price tags.

SNR -105dB? Seems to be not very good for a high end device. Probably because of the JRC MUSE opamp?

Judging by the price, I don't think it's trying to be a "TOTL" unit.. However, the Muse opamps are usually very very smooth in terms of the highs.. So pairing it with the AK4490 will be interesting!! I'm hoping for a very detailed analytical sound with that silky smooth creaminess!!

I am considering buying an M2 but not sure about wating for the M5. Beside the size, screen resolution is there any big improvement that justify to move to an M5? BTW did you update the M2 UI as well?

A more powerful amp, and lower OI (Output Impedance) However, don't let the specs detract you. It can be a ver misleading number. Especially if you have full sized cans anyways. A lot of people with Shire SE846's (which are notorious for his) even say it's pretty well tamed on the M2. Not saying it's a stealth black noise floor with the SE846's.. Just saying it's average in that aspect. When using my RHA's and Sony's.. I get zero hiss unless the song has it due to age of the recording. For example, Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall.. All of the copies I own hiss no matter if it's mp3 all the way up to DSD format... The album hisses.. But if I listen to a modern recording same earphones, Zero hiss.. So like I said.. Don't let specs fool you.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the AK4490 pairs with the Muses 8920!! Not sure who will carry it first.. But I know I will be purchasing it.. Horrible as I just bought the M2 a couple of days ago.. And now there is an M5..

Ugh, this place (Head-Fi.com) is worse than a Porsche dealership.. Everything I see I want to buy and own.. Lol
